Goodbye Bubble,
Itâs with a heavy heart that I write this goodbye letter to you. As a member of the Bubble community for the past few years, itâs been an incredible journey building and launching my apps on your platform.
Seeing how much the technology has grown, from just a handful of people starting out together at a meetup in New York to now serving millions of users across the globe, I am thankful for everything that Bubble has done for me and countless others around the world. Itâs been incredible watching Bubble unlock limitless possibilities and helping so many create amazing products with its powerful visual design language.
However, I have to say that Iâm saddened by your upcoming pricing changesâthe cost increase will make it prohibitively expensive for me and many others in the community to continue using Bubble. While I understand why these changes are necessary for your companyâs continued growth and success, it is still heartbreaking knowing that what was once accessible to all may now be out of reach for many aspiring creators. My hope is that you can find ways to keep offering prices within reach while still enabling your team to do more and achieve bigger things.
Thank you again for all these wonderful experiences! Even though our paths must now diverge, I will always have fond memories of our time together. Wishing you all the best moving forward!
Yes, what is the new reality for.
Maybe a new slogan on purpose:

But, if you want to be our customer, there is a little rule:
You need to be very rich and have already achieved financial success! We also need to remember that undertaking should be just a hobby at you current rich life.

We, Bubble customer â
For me math is basic.
Optimizing at 50% I will pay approximately $2k/month.
in 24 months, I have the value to pivot my app to traditional code.
Basic decision making.
Bubble, either you present us with a fair and accessible solution, or I am 96% certain that you will lose many customers, including the loyal ones who are here today expressing their indignation.
THIS! This exactly. Last weekend my small team and I helped a new client use our app to run a lottery that chooses which members get to bring their refugee relatives to Canada. Itâs a highly charged process, and we wanted the community to feel we had done everything in our power to make the lottery as impartial and fair as possible. Our UI utilizes lots of visuals and lots of data so that everything thatâs being done is transparent. The event went well. I felt proud of myself and my team. Other refugee sponsors in Canada contacted us because of it.
Apparently we used up over 5 Million Wuâs that day. 5M! So, thanks to yesterdayâs announcement, our success is now a financial disaster. Devastating.
Good approach of best solution, simple and usual - no pranks
Suggestion is always to apply inflation as this covers the loss of currency power in any country. Currently in the US it is close to 6% according to this site. But, we are talking about a country in a normal monetary control situation.
However:
If we are talking about an ungoverned country, where inflation is rising every day, it is logical that the application of inflation must have a ceiling. To which I agree that this ceiling is 10%
Whatâs the deal with Bubbleâs new pricing plans? Whatâs the deal with them increasing the workload metric and introducing additional tiers? What do they expect me to do, sell my appâs data to make ends meet? What are these new features theyâre adding to their plans, are they really worth all this extra coin? Bubbleâs not exactly cheap these days and itâs not like I have an unlimited budget. Am I just gonna have to take a big hit in order to use their platform?
Come on Bubble, give us a break!
lol - how does a company f up once before and now fing up again following the same approach. Whoâs making these decisions? Feel like a bunch of kids with no real world experiencing running the place.
Why is it so hard to just charge us for x capacity and let us do whatever we like with that capacity? Bubble is a tool, thatâs it. Charge us for the tool and move on. We all know price is increasing and happy to pay as bubble is a great tool, but not 1000x or even 100x increase.
I wonder what Bubbles VCs would think of this thread, canât be a good feeling to see your investment kamikaze itself
I donât know about you all. But hereâs an important question:
I come from a time when being a good company was an obligation for companies. Where a flawless product was a must! And failures were perceived as embarrassing to their CEOs.
I bring these values ââto my own company.
Now, coming up with the argument that my clients need to pay for me to be better, pay for me to correct my mistakes? This is nonsense. An unreasonable customer experience policy.
If Bubble wants to grow:
ok, let it grow, well and healthy. Bubble needs to adjust the price, ok, go on. But this need to be done under ethical way, without pranks, strategies to tie customers and take advantage through subterfuges. Not increasing price 100x more
Do you think I am harsh with words?
Well, ask the people Iâm going to have to fire next week because of this whole situation here. Ask your children and wives what they will think about my company.
Do you think they will understand?
My 18-Month Plan: Adapting and Evolving with the Changing Landscape
As a Production plan user, weâve successfully built a full ERP for use in Kenya, handling customer orders with phone payments (MPESA), USSD support for orders and account information, sales forecasting, inventory management, and delivery routing. Itâs incredible what weâve achieved in just one year. Initially, we were on the Professional plan at $129/month, but we decided to move to the Production plan for two reasons: 1) to have more branches for development, and 2) because we realized that we were paying more for Slack than our hosting platform and wanted to show our support for Bubble by contributing more. We didnât need to, our capacity never got over 20% in the pro plan and the extra dev branches are really just a luxury.
Weâre now in the process of hiring a full-time developer to expand our app, incorporating VOIP call center integration, SMS automated follow-ups, WhatsApp support, online reorders, and OpenAI features to translate and summarize call center recordings for managerial review. However, with recent announcements and the updated FAQs regarding API WU costs, weâve decided on a new plan for the next 12 months:
- Switch to an annual ProPlan and start migrating ALL of our data and the majority of workflows to Xano. Weâre hopeful that Bubble will reevaluate their API WU costs, but I doubt theyâll budge much on things that actually use real resources.
- Continue iterating in Bubble for the front end until the end of our annual plan (12 months).
- After 12 months, reassess the situation and consider migrating the front end to an alternative platform like WeWeb, Wappler, or FlutterFlowâor even entertain a code deployment if our app is mature enough and our C-level execs have it in them to slow their requests for weird ad-hoc features every quarter.
This plan puts a fair amount of trust in Xano, but after extensive research and watching their principles speak on video, I feel confident about their platform and intentions.
For existing Bubble customers, donât panicâplan and take action, you have time.
For newcomers to Bubble, celebrate the opportunity to start fresh without the sense of loss.
Building anything with such a small number of WUs per pricing-plan simply doesnât make sense, regardless of financial capability. I believe that the smart individual who measured and came up with the WU usage statistic on Bubble may not have considered the fact that only about 10% of all apps on the platform are actual businesses.
Im just very disappointed and heartbroken.
Regarding the new pricing policy, there is no power vacuum. If this pricing policy and metrics are not revised, some other service will take Bubbleâs position as a reference for no code applications.
See this simple analogy, for you to understand the absurdity of this new charging model:
You want to rent a car.
In reaons of your need of safety, comfort, speed, all the best in one case, you chose a luxury Mercedes. The contract does not expire, while you use it, each month you also pay - for the same product, with the same qualities and, importantly, there is no mileage charge - because you need freedom.
From here your journey begins.
Youâre halfway there and the car stops!
Immediately an agent calls you and says:
- Hello, we have changed the rules of your rental. We really hope that you feel good about this, because here, we are having a wonderful idea.
This agent goes on to say:
- Well, we want to let you know that, yes!!! You can drive as much as you like, but once you reach 100 km (Letâs call it Work load) you have to pay us more! But, look, payingâŚitâs all right, you can digest as much as you want. But, just one detail, for every 1 km, you will only have to pay 10% of the total amount of your lease. And thatâs wonderful! Yeah, that way you have more kilometers!!!
- Besides that. We want you to know that your business is important to us. Thatâs why. Weâve removed it to give you another awesome feature that weâll explain to you at some point. But, it will be advantageous (for us). However, you will need to pay a small fee to get the comfort you were looking for.
- And, itâs okay if you donât want to have that Mercedes you wanted. We can let you use only its carcass. It will be almost equal, and you can do this for another 18 months. With a small addition of 10%. But, remember, you also can no longer digest the mileage you wanted. All this is for your good!!! Have a good trip âŚand, donât forget trust on Us! We care about you
And here, of course, ends a journey with the client who does not feel that this is a fair, ethical process. However, a cruel way to harm peopleâs lives in an abusive way.
My friends, this is what Bubble is offering to all of us.
I do not complain about the price increase, but it is abusive. In addition to coming together with the loss of freedom with a cruel speech that everything is fine!
We are no longer the owners of our own solution: Do you understand that?
My two takeaways from the whole thing:
-
Itâs disrespectful of @emmanuel and @josh, both to the Bubble community and @tatiana.a, to send her in as the proverbial messenger that gets metaphorically shot by the said community. She had never used the forum before and she only joined the company in Apr 2022âin other words, a month after Emmanuelâs and Joshâs mea culpae concerning the initial pricing proposal that caused the uproar. Emmanuel, Josh - you guys are better than this. You are the founders of a product we all passionately love and you should own important decisions. Your current radio silence is counterproductive and just alienates more users with each passing minute.

It seems to me that Bubble made a decision to throw most bootstrapped founders using its platform under the truck and move upmarket to the greener pastures of venture-backed startups. Having worked in Silicon Valley, I know the latter are not even remotely as price-sensitive as most Bubblers here who are and have been voicing their opinions (myself included), because an extra thousand or two a month is just a drop in the bucket when the companyâs combined monthly SaaS bill is $50-100k.
Who are they? Everyone DM them it. Ill tell you what, people might think VCâs are bad, but the opposite. They only care about 1 thing, which is money. And this pricing, is undisputably, suicide. Appgyver for example, which I never used, but was VC funded, they didnt charge customers anything until something crazy like 1M in revenue.
Anyway, VCs rock, and honestly, if some of them stepped in and helped with this, it would benefit the community.
I donât even want to make modifications to my app lol, I just feel like Iâm gonna make things worse. Then have to change it in a few weeks when we maybe figure out what actually is a WU and how it is calculated.
