Row numbering possible?

are you by chance placing the group over the text? containers can only have content dropped into not containers dropped onto.

No, I drop the text and then group it afterwards. If I place the group on the rg and then place the text inside the group I cannot reference the index. If I group text after I have made the reference to the index it retains the reference.

you must no be putting the inside each other, is that way i just did it what you mean?

Are you able to see movements on my screen the same way I can see your movements so I can show you?

yes. go for it…

Did you see the actions?

yes, i can see your placing a reference inside a group with different data, the your pulling it out causing it to not have its new reference and when you put it back it is being directly referenced to the groups type… im sorry though this is not an issue, unless your planning to remove is from its parent via appendTo() or clone() or something in run mode. i dare say if you are then you would also know how to add a class and keep its index anyway.

I see what you mean. I spent a lot of time though trying to understand why this was happening and as someone without coding experience it became another hurdle. I guess for me the question is if it’s intelligent enough to retain the reference after grouping, why can’t it allow you to reference that 1 additional variable, without fancy footwork so to speak. Its just unnecessarily confusing for non coders like me. Thanks for your assistance though, much appreciated.

you very welcome and anytime, if i can offer one piece of advise though, bubble has this fantastic ability of being able to do the same thing 50 different ways, a lot of the time a good amount are not wrong answers just different. if you get a puzzler that doesn’t make sense wait until its back is turned and make it submit another way, you will learn some neat tricks by attempting it trust me. every input is an output, every output is an input… where do you want to start
