When user clicks away from auto binding field the field resets and shows blank

I have set a field to be autobinding.

  1. The field is set to the Paren’ts thing ( page level)
  2. It has been linked to a the field which it needs to update.
  3. Privacy rules were updated.

When a user enters information and clicks away from that field the field is made blank and no data was saved to the database.

I’ve seen in tutorial that the information is saved but the field is still showing the information entered by the user. I’m not sure what I set up different in mine. I want it to continue to show the information entered by the user.
