Background Color Transition not working for page?

I’m using the Ionic Toggle to switch between Light & Dark mode. As you can see from the following, all the transitions (text, fixed width content background etc…) have a nice 200ms transition. The issue is with the Page background color which just snaps between white and black. The transitions do not seem to hold on that element, even though it has the exact conditional, transition settings as the other elements? Any ideas?

Have tried a few different methods but cannot get a smooth transition to work for the Page background color? :frowning:
