Hi!
Cool, Iāll look into it!
Question: I have checked the demo apps you provide, but do you have any ālist of featuresā and an easy pointer as to how to implement them? Like: āTo make draggable window: Use the element āDraggable regionā from the pluginā etc. Examining the demo-app is sometimes a but of detective work as in how to figure out the bigger picture of how to set things up.
Hello Tim, I have further questions regarding your service. Can we please have your contact email or a way to get in touch as we have a large project to discuss. Thanks in advance.
Hey @tim12333 Iām looking at buying Deskifier, but skeptical for 2 reasons:
-
the free demo app i tried as a test gave the same error iām getting when I tried to build one myself, ā[App name] is broken and canāt be opened. You should move it to the trash.ā
-
I had to hunt down this bubble thread to figure out how to reach out with questions about the product (and the aforementioned issue).
Can you address both of those items for me?
Hi @dustinstout , sending you a PM!
Hi @tim12333,
What is the status of this feature?
Application List UPCOMING
Get a list of all applications open on your userās device. Useful for time/productivity tracking apps.
Thanks in advance, Francisco
Hi Tim, how are you?
I have been following the evolution of Deskifier. I havenāt seen anything new in a while. I would like to know from you if the project is still active and if your expectations have been met so that there will be news and upgrades to be launched soon.
While weāre at it, Iād like to ask a questionā¦ considering the CRUD possibilities it offers, isnāt it possible for the app to remain active when the internet connection fails, thus using the internal data on the userās PC?
I hope you are firm with the project, as it is very good and has a lot of potential.
Big hug.
Thanks for following along with the project! I will say, the project is being maintained, and there is a large overhaul that has been in the works for a while, but hasnāt been at the top of my priority list unfortunately.
The plan for this overhaul was to roll it out around the time Bubble rolls out the native app system in hopes that we could build powerful offline-capable desktop apps - however, with recent news about Bubbleās native app system, Iām not sure this will be possible unfortunately.
As far as using data internally when the connection fails - I donāt want to say this is impossible, but this would be quite tricky to setup, and likely unreliable due to how WFs work, and how data is loaded. This hasnāt been done yet.
Thanks for building this, it looks amazing. Is there functionality to show in-app message notifications on the icon when it is on the desktop?
Hi Adam,
Thank you! - Native desktop notifications are currently not implemented.
However, you can still launch a new āpopupā window to display a notification to the user. An example of this is on the TakeABreak demo app.
Let me know if you have any more questions or need help setting this up!
Thanks
Are desktop notifications on the roadmap? What about something to make the icon have a small number with the number of unread messages?
Yes these are both on the roadmap for v3.
Also, for anyone else who has been following, pretty much every feature possible is coming with V3.
This is nearing completion, itās been quite a project and required rewriting the system from scratch.
Urgent
Today, all users of my desktop application started getting this message when attempting to load the application:
āYour browser was unable to load the application data. Weāve been notified of the issue. Please try again in a few moments and make sure not to use ad-blockers.ā
I can access my app just fine from a web browser, but on the desktop version, this error shows and nothing else.
It looks like this:
Is anyone else experiencing this? Could something that Deskifier relies on possibly have changed?
My primary revenue source is generated as users use the desktop application, every day this problem goes unresolved is about $500 in lost revenue for me.
*** Update ***
For anyone who seeās my post and gets concerned about the app, itās reliability, or the service Tim offers. I want you to know that Tim reached out over DMās within a few hours and worked urgently to resolve the issue. Itās not certain that Deskifier was the issue either. After a few random configuration changes the app started behaving correctly again.
My business has been using Deskifier reliably for almost two years and I have no complaints. (Just a long list of feature requests that Iām excited to start sharing when Tim finishes the next version)
Hi Tim, do you have a date for V3 release? Thanks.
Hi Tim, I couldnāt find in the Features section of the webpage if itās possible to implement āIdle Detectionā. One specific Use Case we need to implement is that when the Windows user brings the system back from idle, the desktop app comes to the forefront with an specific pop-up (itās a productivity app).
I donāt have an exact date, but I am aiming for end of December. Also, love the idea of an idle detection feature. Iāll see what I can do!
Hi Tim, thanks for the answer. Can you please comment on what kind of triggers from the windows system, if any, would āforce your application to the forefront of your userās desktopā?
Using the āAlways On Topā setting works pretty well. Then you can run an action to show the window (assuming itās in a hidden state), which would bring the window to the top.
The only downside, is the Always On Top feature isnāt currently changeable post window creation.
V3 will include updates to allow more granular control over the window properties like changing the always on top setting on the fly.
