Custom Domain Validation Delay -- 7 Days?

Hello! Has anyone else had many days of delays setting up a custom domain, after already confirming that all the A records in DNS are correct? Support tells me that I need to wait 7 days for Cloudflare, which doesn’t seem like it makes sense (I am very familiar with Cloudflare) given that DNS propagated in an hour everywhere. I will bet $100 if I wait 7 days it’s not going to work (yes I will Venmo you the $100 if you have the answer here :-)) . If anyone knows anything I’d appreciate it, otherwise I’m left with using an iFrame which is less than great. Thanks! Carey

  • What’s your domain?
  • What’s your DNS provider? Cloudflare?
  • If you’re using Cloudflare, have you turned off the orange cloud (proxy mode)?

Hi @johnny, I gave up and used another domain, with the exact same settings, which of course worked immediately :-). But thank you very much for checking in.

I was trying feedingyourkids.app; DNS provider GoDaddy; and no Cloudflare. My working hypothesis on this failure s: You have to have DNS PERFECT the first time, or you’re hosed. In my case, I had all the A records right, but had left a CNAME record in; I deleted that after my first submission failed; but now that domain is, somehow, blacklisted by Bubble. Maybe indefinitely. Bit of a hassle. Anyway thank you. – Carey

It definitely works even if you mess up the first time, did you click check your settings/records button?

Hi @johnny, yes indeed – clicked that multiple times over a period of four days while exchanging messages with support; support’s advice was to wait until the seventh day; that’s a bit long for me, so I gave up today (day five) and deleted the app. I’ll go ahead and do the build on the other domain (which works) and see if maybe when it’s done I can get the first one working if I try from scratch. We’ll see!
