Date Picker Element does not contain value unless clicked

It doesnt make sense to me that the ‘date picker’ MUST be clicked to add the date value to the element. Is there a way to have the ‘date picker’ hold the date value on page load to add it to the database?

• Need the ‘date picker’ element to contain the value of the current date when page is loaded.
• The default ‘date picker’ must select the date, then it holds the date value.

Hmm… can you try maybe setting a state on page load, and then setting the initial content of the date picker to that states value?
