Deleted pages consumes workload units (WU)

Do deleted pages consume workload units (WU)?

Why deleted pages consume workload units (WU)?

How to stop deleted pages from consuming workload units (WU)?

I have tried to answer these questions in my blog article here:

Hope this will help you optimize your bubble application for workload unit consumption!

Are you saying that a page will incur WU (e.g for page load/page is loaded workflows) even after it’s deleted and deployed to live?

In some cases, Yes. I have explained that in the article.

This sounds like a bug from the side of Bubble if it’s true :upside_down_face:

It happens in many cases

If you restricted the date range to be a range after the pages were deleted - do the delete pages still show? I’ve seen this before and assumed, perhaps wrongly, that this was WU usage measured from dates the pages weren’t deleted.

Yes. It does. The consumption is highly small to spot.

I have communicated with the bubble support team and based on that communication for how to resolve it in the building process, I wrote my article so that people facing similar issues can prevent this from happening.

I’m very doubtful

This seems more likely… for WU to be charged on deleting pages, you have to suppose that 1. they can access the page 2. they can still run workflows on that page. Seems exceedingly unlikely.

Instead, you’re seeing the label that Bubble provides to say ‘WU was charged for this, but you can’t see it any more because you deleted it’. It wasn’t charged while it was deleted.

Of course, if Bubble has said there’s a bug here (which I don’t think they have) then it’s a pretty bad one.

I’m not sure if this is related to this issue…

but a few months ago I ran into something sort of similiar.

It looked deleted on my app, but, technically it wasn’t deleted yet.

I did some research and the best I could find is that the page, group, or whatever isn’t actually deleted at that time because if you need to go back or reset to a previous time, the page or whatever would still need to be available to be recalled.

Just something the OP reminded me of.

It is a bug.

Utilize the ‘clean app/app optimization’ tool in Settings > General to help streamline your app’s performance.

That is all that is really necessary in my opinion

Usually Bubble support doesn’t send things up to engineering until they have confirmed there is likely a bug affecting the system, whether that be for some apps or all apps.

Thanks for confirming Matt; indeed I can see that as well.

As such I’ve added your case to our engineers’ investigation, and explained the context to them accordingly. We will let you know once any updates are made; this has proven to be a difficult problem to explore, but our engineers are hard at work doing so! We’ll be in touch.
