Deprecating old versions broke my app

Hi @nick.carroll I launched an update yesterday and deprecated the old versions so that they would see the update screen. But it is frozen on the home screen and not loading anything. Currently all my users are stuck on this screen. Can you please look into this.

How did you launch the update, OTA?

New build (minor)

Have these users upgraded to the latest version?

They can’t because it’s stuck on the Home Screen, isn’t it supposed to automatically go to the ‘update app’ screen that’s prebuilt? When their version is deprecated?

If you released a new build version of the app, users will need to download it from testflight or the app store (however you are currently distributing it). You shouldn’t deprecate the currently live mobile version until users have had the opportunity to upgrade.

But you are right, the app should be going to the update app screen in this scenario

Yea the new version was already out and published, then I deprecated. Are you saying I should’ve not deprecated ?

Oh, no that is an appropriate time to deprecate an old live version. So if a user force quits out of the frozen app, and upgrades the app version, it still doesn’t work?

It works after they force quit and update manually, but the user does not expect a frozen app and needing to go to the appstore manually

Yeah agreed, the update app screen should definitely be showing. Thanks for the additional context

Do you have an eta when this will be fixed so I can tell my users that are stuck?

You should still be able to tell your users to download the newest version though right? I dont have a timeline yet for update app screen issue - still being investigated
