Hi Everyone,
I’m new to bubble and currently exploring the $32 plan ( and respective pricing plans) and have a couple of questions about its features:
-
Workflow Units (WU): I see that the $32 plan provides 175k WU per month. Could someone clarify if this allocation is shared between both development and live modes?
-
Exceeding WU during Development: What happens if I surpass my 175k WU limit while building and testing my app? Will I face any restrictions on further development within the same month?
-
App Usage without Payment: Lastly, I’m curious about whether I can still access and use my app in the following month if I haven’t made a payment or exceeds my subscribed WU in the same month. Is there a grace period or any limitations on usage in this scenario?
I’m eager to hear your insights and experiences. Your input will greatly assist me in making an informed decision about my Bubble subscription.
Thanks a bunch for your help!
Best regards,
Vijay Perumalsamy
Hey there, welcome to the Bubble community!
- Workflow Units (WU) Allocation: Yes, the 175k WU allocation covers both development and live modes.
- Exceeding WU during Development: Don’t worry, if you go over your 175k WU limit while building and testing your app, there won’t be any roadblocks to your development within the same month. However, if your app goes live and starts consuming more WUs than your plan allows, you may need to upgrade your plan to accommodate the increased usage.
- App Usage without Payment: Bubble usually offers a grace period during which your app remains accessible, albeit with some potential limitations like slower performance or certain features being temporarily paused. It’s a gentle reminder to get things sorted
Good luck with your Bubble journey!
Hi @nithinsudheer7,
I appreciate your time! I’m wondering about determining the workload requirements for a project, such as an e-commerce website. Could you guide me on how to predict the amount of workload (WU) needed for my application?
Thanks for your time!
Hi @Vijay-Perumalsamy ,
Glad to assist you further!
Predicting the workload requirements for your project, like an e-commerce website, is crucial for efficient planning. Here are some steps to help you estimate the workload (WU) needed for your application:
- Understand Application Features: List down all the features and functionalities your e-commerce website will have, such as product pages, shopping cart, checkout process, user authentication, etc.
- Breakdown Workflows: Break down each feature into smaller workflows or actions. For example, the checkout process may involve actions like adding items to the cart, entering shipping information, payment processing, etc.
- Estimate Workflows’ Complexity: Assess the complexity of each workflow based on factors like the number of steps involved, integration with external services, data processing requirements, etc.
- Consult Bubble Documentation: Bubble provides documentation and guidelines on estimating workload for various features and actions. You can refer to their resources to get insights into the typical WU consumption for different functionalities.
- Use Previous Projects as Reference: If you have previous experience with similar projects, you can use that as a reference point to estimate workload. Analyze the WU usage patterns from past projects and adjust them based on the specific requirements of your current project.
- Plan for Scalability: Factor in scalability considerations, such as potential future growth in traffic and user activity, when estimating workload requirements.
By following these steps and leveraging available resources, you can make informed predictions about the workload needed for your e-commerce website project.
Best regards
Yes @nithinsudheer7 ,
I understand. How do i give an approximate WU which is need for my application?
Understanding the exact WU requirements for your application can be challenging due to various factors.
However, to estimate the approximate WU needed for your application - identify key workflows, break them down into smaller actions, assess typical WU consumption for each, estimate their frequency, and calculate the total. Consider adding a buffer for unforeseen spikes or future features.
Please keep in mind that it may require some iteration and adjustment based on real-world usage data.
Also you can leverage logs provided by Bubble to determine the Workflow Units (WU) consumed by the application. These logs offer detailed insights into the WU usage associated with different actions and workflows performed within the application. By analyzing these logs, we can gain valuable insights into the WU consumption patterns of the application and optimize accordingly.
Thank you very much for sharing your valuable insight,
For Example I built an application using free template and it consumes 780 WU in 1 week.
Is the WU consumption same for Development and Live?
and Is there any option to carry forward the unused WU for next month?
Generally, the WU consumption remains consistent between development and live modes.
Bubble doesn’t currently offer an option to carry forward unused WU to the next month. Each month, you’ll receive a new allocation of WU based on your subscription plan, and any unused WU from the previous month will not carry over.
Ok.
Is there any average WU available for an user per month for e commerce website.
If then I can calculate and proceed with a proper subscription plan with your guidance!
As mentioned previously, the Workflow Unit (WU) consumption varies significantly for each website, depending on various factors. My suggestion would be to start with the basic plan and regularly monitor the WU consumption. When you notice spikes in WU consumption, you can optimize your application to reduce consumption. Additionally, if necessary, you can consider upgrading to a higher plan to accommodate increased usage.
If you need assistance with optimizing WU consumption or have any further questions, please feel free to contact me on LinkedIn.
Thank you for your time @nithinsudheer7 !

hi! how to monitor workflow unit consumption pls? and also what are the various factors that WU consumption depends on, like does it actually depend on the no. of workflows i have on my app? thanks!
