How to verify en email before changing it

Hi everyone,

I’m using email verification and users are only able to login after verifying their email and clicking on the link.
The problem is, if they change their email with a wrong email address, they’ll loose access to the app.
How can we verify the email address before validating it?

Once they submit the request to change their email, store the newly created one, send them a confirmation email with a link to confirm the change (or just send them an OTP that they would need to enter on the platform to confirm the change)
