yes, you got that right, the geo temp position is an address type field and is really close to my place, for testing purposes. The item is definitely less than 6 kms from my current position nevertheless it doesn’t show up

What about privacy rules? Screenshot of that screen and your database setup too. That will help rule out a few things. 
Discovered what it was mate. I was hiding the group with the items which were actually there with the wrong rule in the conditional. I tried with both current user location and temp geo location and both worked!
