[New] Camera Workflows

Hi everyone! Welcome to the Mobile section of the Bubble Forum.

Excited to share you can now open the device photo library or camera and use the selected media in next steps in a workflow! Here’s the video recording from @nick.carroll.

For selecting photos, you can choose whether you want single or multi selection allowed, and when opening the camera, can choose if you want to save the photo to the user’s camera roll or have it be something that is just added to the Bubble app.

There is also a new version of BubbleGo - 1.4.3 - that fully supports camera access. Please note that another update is coming soon to support Google Maps as well. Stay tuned!

Hey, exciting update.

However, when using either workflow actions Open camera or Open camera library and ‘Make this file private’ is checked, the image doesn’t show up.

The image is uploaded to the file manager, but it doesn’t show on the frontend (even on BubbleGo) even when the user attached to the file is logged in.

To reproduce the issue;

  1. Use the camera workflows (either of them)
  2. Check the ‘Make this file private’ option
  3. Save the file to DB (optional)
  4. Display the image from the workflow in an image element

Additionally, should we expect other details from this upload like the ‘loading state’ and ‘filesize’, as we do now on the web’s picture uploader element?

EDIT
Great catch, thanks for flagging. The workflow action is missing the input for the field that the image should be attached to, which is why it is not working. I’ve filed a ticket to fix this.

Looks like this may be a privacy rule issue. Make sure your privacy rules are set up properly so that “view attached files” is set properly for your use case.

Not yet, but I’ll add these as feature requests!
