QR & Bar Code Reader - New Plugin from Zeroqode

I could not get this to work, but I found a workaround. I made the QR-reader larger than the screen width. That made it work on most iPhones.

But, some iPhons and all Android (lastest OS) phones we tested on are still not working, making this a showstopper for our app and business. Would appreciate some assistans on this.

Thanks, Peter

Hi @philledille

Unfortunately, we still can’t seem to reproduce your issue on our side. We’ve tested the QR code mode on multiple devices, both on newer iPhone models and the latest Androids (all latest OS).

Can you please screen record the issue you are having(debugger on)? Please use our demo page, scroll down to the QR code mode and click “Start Live Scanner” then scan the QR code you have provided. Also, please let us know the name of the device with which you are having an issue scanning a QR code? This information will help us to investigate your issue and see if the issue lies within the plugin configuration.

Looking forward to your reply.

Ok! From my iPhone 12 with iOS 15.3.1:

Scanning with your app: Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software

Scanning with my app with QR element size 600x600: Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software

Best, Peter

Thank you for the video!

We will definitely pass your case to our developers to investigate, but first we would like you to make sure you do and provide the following:

  1. Make sure there is sufficient lighting in the room and QR codes are of good quality.
  2. The QR code is not cut off on the sides and is fully shown on the screen.
  3. The QR code is not too small so that the camera can detect it.

Is the QR code you are trying to scan is the same as you have provided earlier in our discussion? This QR: Screenshot by Lightshot? If not, can you please share the QR code you were trying to scan in the video? Also, if the QR code is the same, but is larger in size does it still not detect the QR?

Apologies for requesting more details, and we understand your frustration, but the issue is not reproducing on our side and we are trying to figure out what might be the problem in your case.

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks for coming back on this! :+1:t2:

1-2: I redid the test by a window in daylight using your app. No scan. The QR code is impeccable, as you can see on the uploaded hi-res image of the new QR code used in the videos.

3: As you can see the iPhone camera is able to detect the QR code at quite a distance. From your earlier test you said that the QR code size should not pose a problem.

Increasing the size of the QR code (by taking a photo of it and put it on a screen) I was able to scan with your test app.

Please also note that the problem is even greater using Android phones. I looks to me as if it is size related.

iPhone camera detects QR code:

We have tried scanning the QR code you have provided, and indeed sometimes it does not scan, but if the size of the QR code is increased it seems to scan well, the issue is probably related to the size as you have mentioned, but our developers will check exactly what might be the issue.

We will get back to you once the investigation is completed.

Thank you for your understanding

Thank you for investigating this!

Thank you for your patience @philledille

Our developers have completed their investigation and concluded that the problem is in the size of the QR and the focus of the camera. Therefore, I would recommend having a bigger QR, as some cameras do not detect small QRs. Despite the iPhone camera detecting the small QR, our plugin only detects when the QR is larger in size, and we can’t change the way detection mechanism works in this case.

Hope for your understanding on this matter.

Hello, I installed the QR Code and Barcode plugin on Bubble.io, but I can’t get it to work the way I would like:

Indeed, I would like it to start scanning when I click on a “Scanner” button, and stop with the stop button or when it has finished scanning. So far it works fine, but I also want the scanner to start scanning again when I press the start button again. The camera works fine because a green light comes on on my computer, but the frame of the video is not visible to the user. Could you help me ? My project has a very close deadline.

Thank you very much,

Louise

The “QRcode” thing is Image type

Hi @MaxB90,
Thank you for reaching out and for using the Barcode & QR Code Reader Plugin.

The Generated QR image is in BASE64 text format, in order to save it into your database, you have to change the type of field from image to text.

Note: please consider adding a pause after Generating the QR image and before saving it to your Database in order to avoid empty values.

See the screenshots below:

Run in Step-by-Step mode:

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the answer!
But it doesn’t work correctly for me. I can see the generated QR in the run-mode, but it is not saved in my DB, although I have set a delay of 10 seconds.
Could it be a problem of two plugins working together?

Hi @MaxB90,
Thank you for your reply.

It might be, can you please let us know what is the second plugin?

If it’s a third-party plugin, there are various factors that can affect this, such as library compatibility and other reasons. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

For a closer look and additional testing, would it be possible for you to grant access to your app so that we can investigate the issue? To do this, please add our email, support@zeroqode.com, as a collaborator to your app. Please note that you can add our email to the collaborator list, even if your app is on the Free plan. Disregard any warning messages that may appear.

Additionally, kindly provide us with the name of the specific page where you are experiencing the issue, the group where the plugin element is located, and the workflows attached to it. This will help us focus our investigation and provide you with a more accurate solution. (here or via DM)

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Looking forward to your reply.

My iPhone users have to give permissions everytime they reload my site, is there a workaround for this?

Thanks!
