Quick Tip about naming your Agency (avoid this word)

If you are starting a Startup or a Bubble agency then make sure that the name you choose does not contain the word “Bubble” in it. Bubble does not allow the word “Bubble” in custom domain name if you are hosting your website/app on Bubble. Learned this the hard way.
This becomes even more important if a client comes to you with their idea about a startup that they wanna name Bubble Tea CRM.
!! This obviously does not apply if your Bubble agency or Startup website will not be hosted on Bubble. Although you’d probably still not be able to list the agency in the Bubble Agency directory.

Bubble doesn’t allow you using the name Bubble in any Bubble related company names.

For example. Buildprint couldn’t be named Bubble Blueprints as it infringes on their trademark.

Buildprints for Bubble would be borderline as it’s descriptive, but avoid using Bubble in your business / brand names.

Pretty sure it’s in Bubble’s T&C somewhere.

I am not contesting their decision to not allow the word Bubble in the domain name for apps hosted on the platform. The intention of this post is to let others know that this limitation exists.
This limitation might not be very obvious for everyone and might get overlooked. Trademark infringement is a real thing but different companies enforce this on different levels.

Not actually a trademark violation but Bubble has the right to block such sites.

Bubbble is actually doing you a favor as it inevitably will completely rebrand if it is able to emerge from under its behomoth of tech debt and become a viable option in the new AI landscape.

In this case Bubble should tell you that this name is not obeying copyright and might get sued or removed, after that sue you. That is the right way

They can’t say that because it’s not an infringement on their trademark (in the USA).

Bubble can choose to not host domains containing “Bubble,” but you’re right that it should be more upfront about it so ppl don’t waste time or money purchasing such domains.

I remember reading official docs or post about this somewhere the last time this issue was brought up. @fede.bubble any idea?

It’s clear in the terms, don’t use Bubble in your brand name, not much more to it really.
