Saving data from external API

Hi.

My question is divided into two parts:

PART1.
When adding plugins in the editor window, are the available plugins the only ones I can use.

For example if I wanted to save data form a users Dropbox profile how can this be done since there is no Dropbox plugin in the plugins options.
