Shame on Bubble.io: Unacceptable Performance Issues!

Dear Bubble.io Team,

I am utterly disappointed and frankly disgusted with the abysmal performance of your platform. As a paying member on the team plan, shelling out a hefty $399 per month, I expected a level of service and performance that aligns with the premium price tag. However, what I’ve experienced is nothing short of a nightmare.

Let’s cut to the chase: the performance of my app built on Bubble.io is utterly deplorable. Despite being on the team plan, which supposedly grants access to enhanced features and resources, my app takes an excruciatingly long time to load on mobile devices. Several minutes to load in this day and age is not just unacceptable—it’s a disgrace.

What’s even more infuriating is the blatant disregard for core web vitals. With performance metrics ranging between 10-30 in mobile view, my app’s performance falls drastically short of the standard benchmark of 75. This not only reflects poorly on Bubble.io but also undermines the user experience and credibility of my app.

But the horror doesn’t end there. Every time I dare to voice my concerns on your forums, instead of addressing the critical performance issues plaguing your platform, my account gets blocked. It’s baffling how a company can stifle feedback from paying customers rather than taking responsibility for their shortcomings.

Let me make this crystal clear: your platform’s performance is abysmal, and your lack of dedicated support for team plan customers is downright shameful. It’s time for Bubble.io to stop sweeping these performance issues under the rug and start delivering on the promises you made to your paying customers.

I demand immediate action to rectify the performance issues plaguing my app and the Bubble.io platform as a whole. Anything less than a swift and effective resolution is simply unacceptable.

Sincerely,

Bubble is not winning any awards for speed but overall it does more than a decent job to me.

I’m not trying to downplay your issues but with no context or live examples, what makes you very certain it’s a Bubble issue and not an issue with how your app was built? Bubble or native, a bad app is a bad app.

A team plan offers no performance difference. It’s just a difference in collaborative features. Only a dedicated plan can in theory offer better performance in your apps. Even then a poorly built app will still suffer from performance issues.

I’ve heard these stories many times from new clients, in the end 9/10 times it is their data practices.

If you’d like send me a DM and I’ll do a quick audit on your app.

tend to agree with @chris.williamson1996 here, improper search filtering criteria or database structure or even improper element time-specific “showing” is likely the culprit. Data needs to be loaded when it is needed, not before. This means structuring workflows, states, popups and search criteria correctly. I’ve got pages which load hundreds of photos and search through dozens of thousands of entries and while it’s not the fastest as @ihsanzainal84 points out, it’s within a couple of seconds and I didn’t have to write an entire infrastructure optimization scaffolding.

Unfortunately bubble is extremely woke. They don’t handle criticism well. I’ve been blocked for being too hostile when no foul language was used. I’ll probably go into prison again for saying this, but they’re more concerned about DEI than performance.
