I’m thrilled to share my latest project built using Bubble! It’s an app designed for product managers to easily create, share, and collaborate on a status report.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how I brought this idea to life:
Design: Laying the foundation
To kick off the project, I selected a Building Blocks template from the Bubble marketplace. These templates are great for speeding up development by providing pre-built components. For this app, I chose the “Basis UI - Building Blocks v1” template. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available, but I highly recommend starting with a similar one to save time and focus on functionality.
For design inspiration, I turned to Landing Folio, which has a treasure trove of examples to help refine your ideas. It’s amazing how much clarity you can get by studying others’ work before jumping into development!
UX: making it intuitive and engaging
I’m particularly proud of the user experience in this app. My goal was to create a seamless, intuitive process for users, so I paid extra attention to the customer journey and interaction design.
One standout feature is the drag-and-drop functionality, powered by Bubble’s Draggable Elements plugin. This made it easy to implement dynamic, interactive elements for reordering and organizing content. Shoutout to this video tutorial, which was a game-changer in helping me understand the plugin’s capabilities.
Email: Seamless communication
Transactional emails are a key part of statusreport.app, whether it’s inviting team members to collaborate or requesting input. I integrated email functionality using MailerSend, which offers a generous free plan and an intuitive interface for managing email templates.
I connected the email templates to Bubble using the API Connector feature, ensuring that emails are professional and consistent with the app’s design.
Payments: dimplified and efficient
For payments, I integrated Stripe using Bubble’s API connector. To keep things straightforward in this initial phase, I decided to offer a lifetime deal with one-off payments, which made implementation easier while still providing value to users.

Here are a few highlights of the app’s features:

- Custom sharing options, including role-based permissions for privacy and control.
Lessons learned and next steps
Throughout this project, I’ve learned a ton about striking the balance between design and functionality. Bubble made the process much smoother, but like any project, there were challenges along the way—especially in making the template responsive.
Next, I’m planning to:
- Collect user feedback for improvements.
- Expand the feature set, focusing on integrations with tools like Slack and Jira.
