Showing a small portion of next item in a repeating group?

Is there a way to show only a small portion of the next item in a repeating group of images to help the user know to continue scrolling?

If you put a repeating group in a group and force the repeating group to be longer then the group (e.g. so that the group only shows 1.5 items whereas the repeating group shows 2 full items), the group just extends to match the repeating group length.

I’ve done this using CSS to restrict the height of the repeating group.
