I cannot take away the shade I see in the Standard Dropdown, even if I change style and set the Shadow Style to “None”.
Can you help?

Hi there! you mean the shade that is like in the middle of the dropdown?
If so, a turn around that is to select gradient as background style of your dropdown and then select the color you want for your dropdown in the top and in the bottom color options (the same color).
That usually works for me, but remember that it depends a lot about the browser, cause every browser handles in a different way elements like dropdowns.

you are right, the problem is the browser!!
As soon I moved to Chrome (from Safari), it was easy to remove the shade.
