Store file from API - securely against a thing

Hi,

I was wondering, how does one acheive the below.

I am retrieving a file via a backend workflow/webhook, and am wanting to download the file and then save it to the file manager, but then assign it to a thing. So that the file is secure.

How does one achieve this as a backend workflow?
