Trying to make a page where people can create there own profiles that will appear on there home page?

Any ideas how I should go about this?

Make a Page called profile and create the fields in a group that you want to show and you have in your user data type. On the group you set the data type to user and data source to current user. You will need your user to have signed up and saved some information and be logged in to show the data.

Is there any plugin or anything i can user to make the page a profile template to get it all designed or have you got to make the profile from scratch?
