This is awesome! Already making development easier. Thanks!

@kate.mcnally awesome new improvement in terms of quality of life.

A little tweak I would like to suggest would be to keep the selected folder in both workflow tabs the way they have been selected prior to tab changes. The current state is that when a tab change occurs now folder is selected.

Thank you!

EDIT: next level improvement of my suggestion above would be to keep the last opened workflow open in either tab. That would be huge!

Any update for a tab for API Connector?

great ,
currently when we have folders on the BE workflow tab, switching the Design and Backen view doesn(t keep the folder (view i sreset) , ,. improvement possible ?

I don’t follow the forums so was surprised to find my bookmarked link to the Backend Workflows page now takes me to the index page instead, and the Backend Workflows was missing from the list of pages. But no worries, I found it pretty quickly.

However, it’s super annoying that going to the Backend Workflows screen resets the Design tab… thought I was going crazy when the thing I was editing kept hiding itself.

Going from Design to Backend Workflows also closes the workflow that I had open, which again, is pretty annoying when you have to then search for it again.

I do like having the Backend Workflows “closer” but with the Design/Workflow resetting when you switch between them, I’m just going to continue editing my page and workflows in separate tabs.

Great improvement, thx!

However, links to backend issues are not updated yet… :disappointed_relieved:

Hi @kate.mcnally

Just gave a quick look…first, it was hard to find as it is 3rd position instead of last position (just my mind would expect last position, and will just take a moment for people to find and learn it is 3rd position so not a huge issue).

One major issue though; I opened up the elements on my page in the design tab, got everything setup to work as I need to on the design tab…then I went to the backend workflows via the new backend workflows tab…followed by navigating back to the design tab and unfortunately, the design tab is reset as if I just opened the page for the first time and had not already opened up elements and expanded my element tree etc.

For me personally, I had a need for the backend workflow tab to allow me to navigate between design tab and backend workflow tab without my design tab being reset, since this is why I personally need to open new browser tabs when I need to work on the page and backend workflows, so that my design tab is not reset every time I need to go between backend workflows and design.

Is it a bug that the design tab is getting reset when navigating from design tab to new backend workflow tab and back to design tab, or is that expected/intended behavior?

Hi @kate.mcnally ! Nice improvement there. I’m working with the new backend workflow views and something that is induced from this change and that is really annoying, is that everytime you switch back and forth from the back end tab the view is reset. For example, I’m working on a specific BE WF and want to have a look at the data tab real quick, before going back to my BE WF, I have to find it again every time… I understand why you would do that, but for me it feels like a downfall of my dev experience compared to the way it was before (that wasn’t such a problem btw). Thanks

This is the only thing I cared about. Not the two clicks, but the subsequent 10 clicks to get the Design tab back to the state I wanted to get to.

I would use two tabs, but I’ve heard of apps getting weird bugs and getting corrupted from having the editor opened in multiple tabs.

Pointless update…

If this is their intended behavior, yes, indeed, a pointless release. Hopefully the issue is a bug and this is not their intended behavior with this release.

It’s always been this way and they didn’t fix it with this release. Probably some sort of technical debt/limitation (the usual Bubble story).

If it is the case that this is all it will be then the release is more of just a heads up we moved where you locate backend workflows so you’ll be really confused and potentially file a bug report when you do not locate them in the previous location and have not noticed the left side bar location.

I was actually looking forward to a new feature that increases productivity and improves developer user experience

@kate.mcnally can we get some kind of signal we are in backend workflow and not workflows of the page or reusable element…this has caused problems for me multiple times today.

In the past the dropdown in top left would show ‘backend workflows’ which made it easy to understand I was looking at backend workflows. Now, it doesn’t and it shows the page name or reusable name.

Somewhere there should be some clear words that signal ‘backend workflows’

it only shows the name in the new layout.

Maybe they can respond if it’s something they’re working on? i know communication is not there thing but if we know that some improvements were coming it might be less frustrating…

Hey @kate.mcnally - any conversations around changing all use of ‘API workflow’ to ‘Backend workflow’?

Both terms are used throughout the app which is confusing and now that Backend Workflows is the name of the top level tab, perhaps that term should be used everywhere?

This for example

Came here to bump this message. Would be so helpful if it left you where you were when you tabbed. Its almost worse that it closes everything and you lose track of where you were.
