I just updated Smooth Signature Pad to v2.0. This update addresses the two biggest complaints with signature plugins: Mobile responsiveness and File Types.

What’s new:

1. SVG Vector Support (Native Upload) :cloud: Most plugins only give you a raster PNG. We added an Upload Signature action that supports SVG.

  • Why SVG? It’s a vector format. You can scale it to the size of a billboard or shrink it for a footer, and it never loses quality. It’s the standard for PDF generation and digital contracts.

  • Of course, we also support PNG and JPG uploads directly to your Bubble File Manager.

2. The “Rotation Bug” Fix :mobile_phone: Have you ever signed on a phone, rotated the screen to Landscape, and the signature disappeared? v2.0 fixes this. We now persist the stroke data, so your user can resize the window or rotate their device, and the signature stays perfectly in place.

3. Advanced Features :sparkles:

  • Sign on Images: You can load a background image (like a contract section) and sign over it. The Undo function is smart enough to remove the ink without removing the background.

  • Lock Mode: Easily disable the pad for “Read Only” displays.

:control_knobs: Zero-Setup Built-in UI Tired of building custom buttons and workflows for Undo, Redo, and Clear? Just check one box, and the plugin instantly generates a sleek, responsive native Toolbar. It includes everything from Pen Styles and Color Pickers to Background Uploads.

:keyboard: Typed Signatures (Auto-Sign) Not everyone likes signing with a mouse. Users can now click “Type”, write their name, and instantly generate a gorgeous cursive signature (powered by premium Google Fonts). Best part? They can draw over it afterward to add a custom touch!

:black_nib: Pro Pen Physics & Anti-Jitter We added a physics engine! The ink now responds to drawing velocity. Choose between Fountain Pen, Ballpoint, or Marker. We also introduced an Anti-Jitter system that automatically smooths out shaky hand movements for a flawless, natural look.

:camera_with_flash: High-Fidelity Export Engine (Perfect for PDFs) The Save Signature action is now a powerhouse.

  • Trim: Automatically crops out all empty whitespace around the signature.

  • HD Scaling: Apply a resolution multiplier (2x, 3x) to prevent pixelation in printed PDFs.

  • Output formats include PNG, JPG, and raw SVG.

:triangular_ruler: Flawless Responsiveness We integrated a ResizeObserver into the core. No matter how your Bubble flexbox stretches or shrinks, the digital pen will perfectly align with the user’s mouse pointer. No more drawing off-center!

We are incredibly excited to announce V4 of the Smooth Signature Pad (Pro)!

While V3 gave you the ultimate drawing physics and “type-to-sign” features, V4 focuses entirely on Security, Compliance, and LegalTech capabilities. We just turned this plugin into a native “Mini DocuSign” for Bubble.

If you are building B2B apps, contracts, delivery tracking, or any app requiring legally binding agreements, this update is for you!

Here is what we added in V4:

:shield: 1. Cryptographic Hashing (SHA-256) The moment your user lifts their finger or mouse, the plugin’s new crypto-engine generates a unique SHA-256 Hash based on the raw stroke coordinates and timestamp. This creates a tamper-proof digital fingerprint of the signature.

:detective: 2. Auto Device Fingerprinting No need to build complex workflows to track users. V4 automatically detects the Signer’s Operating System and Browser, exposing them instantly as Bubble States so you can log them in your database for your Audit Trails.

🖃 3. Visual Security Watermark (Image Stamping) This is the magic part! When you trigger the Save Signature or Upload to Bubble workflow actions, the plugin dynamically expands the canvas and permanently stamps the Signer’s Name, exact ISO Timestamp, and the SHA-256 Hash onto the bottom of the exported PNG/JPEG. Your downloaded files now act as verified receipts!

:gear: How it works: Everything happens entirely in the browser (client-side). No external APIs, no backend delays, and 100% privacy-compliant since the data never leaves your Bubble app!
