Why can i not format a date as non-US?

I’m using the built in Date/Time picker and it won’t let me have a custom format. Only US format - MM/DD/YY (which is backwards for the rest of the globe)

Initial content has to be a date value, not a text (a formatted date becomes a text)…

You can set the date display format to anything you like (including custom formats) using the Date format field (note you’ll need to remove any style you’ve got applied to the date/time picker - or you can edit the format directly in the style editor).
