🕓 Why I Turn Down a Lot of the Clients That Come to Me

You might think to yourself, why would you turn down a client? Don’t you want money?

Well, I want my clients to succeed first and foremost. When they succeed, I succeed as well. I want them to have long-term success—not just get an app out there alongside the millions already on the market.

So what types of questions do I ask to make sure we’re a good fit? Here are just a few:

  1. Do you already have a business or users for your app?
  2. Is this bootstrapped, or do you have investors?
  3. Are you saving money by automating your business, or are you trying to make money from this app?
  4. Do you already have experience in the field related to the app you’re building?

When a potential client doesn’t have funding, a list of users ready for launch, or experience in the field, I recommend starting with a simple website where people can sign up if they’re interested in the idea. I encourage them to get feedback before they even begin building the app.

Over the years, I’ve learned that sometimes a good idea isn’t enough to make a project successful. The real question is: do people actually want the product?

I’ve experienced this firsthand with my own projects. At one point, I created an app that I thought was a great idea—but I had no experience in the field. I took the time to build it, made it look nice, and launched it… no users. That wasn’t the right way to start a business.

Later on, I had another idea. This time, I first created a simple website using Google Sites with a form for people to enter their email if they were interested. I launched it, shared it on social media, and quickly received a lot of negative feedback. While the idea failed fast, at least I didn’t spend time and energy building an app no one wanted.

This is one of the main reasons I turn down a lot of clients. It’s also why many clients choose our agency, NoCodeMinute. They know they can trust us and that we’re not just trying to take their money—we genuinely want them to succeed.

Many of our clients do have funding, an existing business, or a list of users ready to go. Because of that, we have plenty of work and are engaged in many long-term projects with great clients.

I just wanted to share my experience as a founder of NoCodeMinute. Hope this helps!
