Hi folks! So I want to be clear that I am totally new to building an app, I know absolutely nothing about coding and I am trying to get my app up and running. Inititlaly when I started Bubble gave me a landing page creator, basically it asked me to input some information and it would generate a landing page. It did a great job and I love it! Is there any way to do this for the rest of the app, as adding features that I want such as a virtual map like google earth with pinpoints etc seems a bit more tedious.
Depends a bit on what you want. If you need lots (thousands) of markers perhaps map and interaction around those markers like storing favorites, sharing etc, Bubble might not be the best choice as handling lots of data fast in an economical way is not the strongest point of Bubble.
Showing some markers on a map can be done very quickly with Bubble though.
I hope you are doing well, yes you can create more pages and sections, there are a few short ways I can suggest you use, you can check the bubble component if you want to make a quick design section and you can also create a component from some of the current sections from the landing page, and yes you can also create map like you want by adding an HTML tag in the bubble and use map embed code.
Cheers Sem! Can you give me some examples of the kind of apps bubble might excel at vs ones that require a map?
You can have your map in Bubble just fine. No problem at all. It can become costly though when you have a lot of datapoints or markers on the map. So it depends a bit on what you want and are willing to pay per month. With Bubble you pay for every db action. So retrieving and writing to the db. This is how Bubble makes money so if you write and read a lot to the db in Bubble, make sure you understand that it is perhaps not the most economical choice. But again, it depends on what you exactly want and need and can afford per month.
I hope I am not breaking any rules naming competitors, would other builders such as Adalo and/or Thunkable be better for a map based app? And would a program like Figma or Balsamiq make the building element even easier?
