Use opacity with 500 ease transition instead of simply show/hidden
Use When this group is hovered, background color flat and light gray, with 500ms ease transition.
The native dropdown becomes a focus group with the right amount of padding (always go with slightly bigger padding on the sides, example t:3px b:3px l:6px r:6px for labels)
One thing I’ve noticed is that those who build apps are usually focused on the mechanics of the app…
and of course, those who build websites are usually focused on the design.
I look at Dribble a lot…and Webflow sometimes. Anything that is done on those sites can be done in Bubble.
However, I think over the years it has been shown that simple apps that do what the user wants is what’s important. Yes, design is good, but good design can be simple yet effective.
An interesting article I read over the weekend, which I think hit the mark…
apps are becoming easier and easier to build. There are a lot of platforms now where you can bring your app to life…
but the problem isn’t building an app anymore…it’s finding users for your app.
Lots of apps being built, but no users.
As the article pointed out, and what I believe, is there’s a great future for those that can help others understand how to get customers for their app. It is a science that I think will be in big demand.
Thanks for taking the time to offer some tips. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Absolutely, I couldn’t agree more. These days, a lot of people building apps aren’t trained designers, and it really shows in the final product. You can often tell when an interface was created without a strong understanding of design principles—things feel clunky, inconsistent, or just hard to use. Good design isn’t just about making things look nice; it’s about creating intuitive, accessible, and thoughtful experiences, and that’s something many apps today are clearly lacking.
The same issue applies to areas like security and performance optimization. Now that development is more accessible than ever, we’re seeing a huge influx of new developers creating websites and applications—but without a solid foundation in best practices. As a result, many of these products are launched without proper attention to security, privacy, or efficiency. That’s why sharing knowledge is so important—by helping each other level up, we raise the bar for everyone.
Please i need a help,
my dash board does not have an edit feature, and i need to edit an element so i can move forward on my app development, i need help please
I completely agree, I also think good design is very important and essential, and I think bubble offers some really good options for that.
Thanks for the tips, I will use them in the future.
As a designer (for 15+ years) that became a dev I can say to you: Designers know way less about the devs work than the other way around. Will tell you more, most devs know more about design than “real” designers.
Those are two very realistic reference images and I totally agree with your observation.
My younger brother is great at making beautiful designs and asked me to help him find work from Bubble community. When I looked at his portfolio it was all fancy (and extremely beautiful looking) stuff but none of that was actually user friendly, or even developer friendly.
I guess one reason is that many of these designers come from a Photoshop background where you just drag things around and place them where you’d like them to be. There are no moving parts and no layout constraints. I had to teach my brother why his designs wont work and what to make instead for his portfolio. He landed his first gig with a small startup and I guess he now understands how things work in the real world.
Webflow templates might look like an odd one here but I love it as a design inspiration resource. with 6000+ templates there are always multiple relevant designs for any given category.
