I’m currently designing an app that consumes 2,200 WU per user per day. With Bubble’s highest tier offering 20 million WU per month, this translates to 666,000 WU per day, which limits my app to approximately 300 to 500 users.
Given this, is it possible to scale to 10,000 users (or even 20,000 users) at this WU consumption rate using a custom server? I understand that Bubble doesn’t explicitly state a limit, but I need some numbers to evaluate the technology’s limitations for my project.
Optimization isn’t my primary concern at the moment—I’m aware that there are ways to optimize, and I can use Supabase and other resources. That’s not the point right now.
My main focus is on understanding the maximum WU capacity achievable with Bubble to determine if it can support my app’s needs, especially since I plan to add more features that will increase WU consumption.
Not sure Bubble limit the # of WU by month. You will just be charged for overage after the last tier. But, at this point, you should consider Enterprise plan that are dedicated server and WU are not calculated.
However, you should optimize your app. Actually you don’t have a good idea of the real WU your app could take after optimization…
I understand optimization is an important measure.
My question is trying to understand if I should change to another technology very soon, because we are talking about scaling 50x, maybe 100x the maximum tier Bubble offers.
So, am I beyond all possible optimizations at the kickoff?
We need to know some numbers where Bubble is not the right way to go…
I’d think in terms of max WU (since WU is the only number we have from Bubble)…
If you have Tier 5 of the additional workload units, anything above the 20 million WU is billed at $0.08 per 1000WU consumed - so for example, another 10 million WU used on top of the 20 million you already had, would be an additional $800. Bubble also has dedicated hosting with no WU charges that can be more cost effective once you’re reaching WU consumption above 20 million or so.
I think you are right…
I’ve have achieve numbers of 20K WU in some hours, and nothing happened…
I’m concerned about structure, more than costs in this question…
My guess is that is achiavable 20K users, and probably… costs greatly decrease…
If anyone has some real experience, would be great to know!
I understand how you think. I would say, do not care about the consumption. If you have so many users and when it is a success the technical challenges are easy. Most people forget that technology is in most cases the easy part. By far. Especially with tools like Bubble. The most difficult part, by far, is getting traction and paying customers.
The beauty is that most people don’t believe it or that it does not apply to them. Otherwise nobody would start a business. All the IT companies and Agencies live off people that believe they will be the next Facebook. Not knowing that Facebook and all those others also took lots of time from idea to building to launching to having meaningful traction took years.
Better worry about marketing and sales. Put 80% of your time and money in marketing and sales. The rest is “easy”.
