Bubble Mobile: Private Beta Update & Upcoming Roadmap

Hey everyone,

I’m Nick, the product manager for mobile at Bubble.

We know many of you are eager to start building and launching native mobile apps, and we really appreciate your patience as we continue rolling out access.

As most of you know, we’re currently in the invite-only private beta. We have 20,000 users on our waitlist and have been working hard to ramp up the number of people invited — as of February 2025, we’ve 10x’ed the number of users we’re inviting per month since we first started! As our beta testers are building apps, our Product & Engineering team is gathering feedback, addressing bugs, and shipping new features. Our Success team is also ramping up support capacity to prep for a public launch.

As we significantly increase the number of users we invite off the waitlist, we are closely monitoring the feedback and capacity, but exciting news: our goal is to shift to a public beta no later than June 2025.

In the meantime, we wanted to share how the Bubble’s mobile platform is shaping up and the features we’re working on next.

What have we shipped? :rocket:

When we launched the beta in October, it included foundational features for mobile app development:

  • Mobile views: Native mobile app development starts with mobile views. Think of them as the “web pages” for mobile. They’re native to mobile apps and offer performant options to display information. Check out this walk-through to learn about the different types.
  • Smooth navigation: Create smooth and performant mobile experiences that users expect — from stack navigation to modals to tab navigation.
  • Native gestures: Make your app feel magical with intuitive mobile gestures — easily add swipes, taps, and long-presses.
  • Test on all devices: Preview on your web browser, or test out native experiences directly on your phone with BubbleGo (made with Bubble’s mobile editor!).
  • Easy deployment: When you’re ready, Bubble can prepare a build that you can submit and publish on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Since October, we’ve added these major features:

  • Push notifications: Allows any Bubble developer to send news, reminders, and alerts without buying or managing external services.
  • Device integrations: Harness the power of mobile by connecting to device features like your camera and photo library.
  • Mobile reusable elements: Save time by building your native mobile elements once while keeping your app looking consistent across all screens.
  • Multiple live versions: Test with a separate version while users enjoy the current version without interruption. When it’s time, you can guide users to upgrade.
  • Location services: Empower users share their location to find nearby spots, get directions, or connect with people around them.
  • Date/time picker: Give users a native way to pick dates and times on mobile devices- perfect for scheduling events, setting reminders, or booking appointments.
  • BubbleGo for Android: Test your native interactions and elements by downloading the testing app on Android.

What’s coming next :eyes:

We’re not slowing down — here’s what we’re working on and will be shipping over the next few months for the public beta and beyond.

  • Short list and selectable list: Short Lists are the native mobile alternative to Repeating Groups, designed for creating better mobile user experiences by displaying only a small, focused subset of data at a time.
  • Plugin editor: Soon, you’ll be able to add any feature you can dream up and unlock new use cases. We’re working with early alpha testers and iterating on this quickly.
  • Web preview debugger: Catch bugs or issues by testing your app right in your browser.
  • Rich text support: Add bold headlines, bullet points, or whatever style you need to make your message pop.
  • App text support: Localize your app in any language, just like on web.
  • Native video element: Give your users smooth video playback that’s built right into their phone.
  • Native alerts: Add system-level messages that appear while users are using your app, such as deletion confirmation.
  • In-app purchases: Build your mobile business by letting users subscribe or buy goods or services with seamless in-app payments.
  • And more to come :eyes:

It’s been so exciting to see new mobile apps land in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store every week, and we’re looking forward to seeing even more.

We’re making big strides and can’t wait to help get mobile into more hands. Thanks for being part of the journey — we appreciate your support and feedback!

I can’t wait to finally test it. We have clients who accepted us to use Bubble because this was coming so I really hope it will hapoen sooner than later.

Sounds great, when can we finally get beta access?

Will there also be a native video recorder? You guys have mentioned a native camera previously but will it also work for video?

This might sound dumb, but, will you be able to converge your already build webversion into a mobile one?

Backend and database is shared, UI is not.

Mobile native favours builders who have used the backend extensively, as they won’t have to rebuild so much logic in mobile.

Does this mean bug with bbcode parsing will be fixed?

Great news!

@nick.carroll when can we expect the full fledged product release for us, the public? Cheers!

“No later than June” is their goal. With that said they are sending out beta invites more and more each month so keep an eye out in your email.

@nick.carroll will we be able to reuse the same database we have on the web app ? thatbwould be superb…I hope so

Yes! Think of it as just another UI, to your existing app but using all the same familiar tooling. Ie the editor and deployment, and sharing the database and workflow.

This is so cool. was expecting the bubble native mobile version for developing something new for my company and my clients. looking forward to have the amazing journey with bubble mobile

I’ve been testing for several weeks now, and it’s amazing what we can do. By testing the work we do on our app at every stage, we can no longer say that it looks like an app, no no, it’s a mobile app, in terms of navigation, fluidity, design…
What’s still missing are the plug-ins, which are an essential element.
Bravo, the Bubble mobile team !
