Apologies if this is a very simple question - i have put bubbles calendar onto my app, & in preview mode i can see it, switch between month/week/day and switch between months, but i can’t open a day to see what entering something into it may look like - do i have to build this functionality? Or is this enabled via the bubble calendar already & just not useable through preview mode?

You have to add this functionality yourself but it is reasonably easy.
To set this up go into the Workflows tab then Click to add an event. As shown here you choose what happens if a calendars event is clicked or a calendars day is clicked.
