Change state on input value change

I have an input search with the Fuzzy plugin. In a “value is changed” workflow on the input I am trying to changer the state of the page in order to hide a group, but it seems to only take effect when I hit enter or click outside the input.

Is it possible to change as state based on the input value without confirming the value or does anyone have a suggestion for better dealing with this UI.
