Custom Domain Costs

Hey all,

Searched a bit on the forums but couldn’t find a definitive answer to this. Working through building out my product and starting to think seriously about domains. In the editor, ‘Settings > Domain/email > Custom Domain’, we’re able to select a domain to be registered with bubble with a note about upgrading to the start plan to enable this (which I intend to do).

My question is this, how is this handled on bubble’s end? Obviously domains have a wide range of pricing with a large amount of variables that go into determining price as it seems. I’m curious to know which types of domains (.net, .com, .ai, .app, etc.) are covered under registering the domain with bubble directly. Is there a certain dollar amount they cover for domains included in the starter plan? Any info here is greatly appreciated. If I’m way off on my understanding here, please educate me.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

To my knowledge, Bubble doesn’t offer the ability to register a domain name through them - but they do require you be on a paid plan (Starter Plan) to be able to point a custom URL to your app. I believe this is what you’re seeing. Are you able to send a screenshot of what you’re looking at?

That doesn’t register it it just connects it. You have to already own the domain

Thanks for the response @chris.williamson1996. Wasn’t entirely sure with the verbiage, this helps.

Question related to this topic.

Does the domain need any kind of hosting or would it be domain only to run your bubble application?

Thank you!

Just need the domain itself, no hosting provider. Point the DNS records to Bubble, which it tells you what records when you try to connect the domain in Bubble.

Thank you @draked123 :pray::wink:
