Bubble does the hosting, but you have to purchase the domain. In the Settings tab, there’s an option to buy a domain from Google Domains.

Thanks @potentialthings
Okay so no need to buy hosting plan so does bubble offers Hosting for free?
or I have to select any of the below-mentioned plans
As currently I am running on free plan.

Your application is already hosted and available as soon as you click the button to deploy to live. If you want to have a custom URL, you will need to have a paid plan. Similarly, if you want to make sure other people cannot edit your application, you’ll need to have a paid plan.

If I buy a domain name from any vendor and purchase a customized email address with it, Will Bubble host it for me as well or I am needed to find an external host for email?

@potentialthings any suggestions on this?

Bubble hosts everything, and currently there is no option to ‘self-host.’ This is part of the Bubble business model. Services like Parse and other BaaS companies have followed similar models.

Essentially, you are purchasing your own domain name and ‘pointing’ it to the Bubble Servers (the same as you would if you had created your own server from scratch on any cloud provider), which run your Bubble application.

Disadvantages of having Bubble host everything: they control the cost and if they shutdown without releasing the source code, you’re screwed if you haven’t replicated functionality using traditional development. All that said, I assume they will open source their code if they sell out or shut down. If they ever decide to increase prices astronomically, we’ll likely be able to pay contractors (or a team) to replicate our projects and just keep a free or lower tier Bubble account for product design.

Advantages of Bubble hosting everything: MANY. Primarily, you won’t need to build or maintain any server-side environments…no dev-ops of any kind. You are outsourcing this task to the Bubble team.

The best programming language (or platform) is the one that gets the job done.

I understand the fact that Bubble hosts everything for us and appreciate the same. But it would be great to receive some insight on whether it(Bubble) will be hosting the customized email id that I will be purchasing along with my domain name. And which mail box will I be using to access the mails?

Email is something you’ll have to do yourself, as far as I know. So:

  • The app hosting is done by Bubble.
  • You purchase your domain at a domain registrar of your own choice.
  • Bubble doesn’t provide email hosting. There’s no email inbox, webmail, or whatever. All email sent to Yourappname.com will use your domain registrars DNS settings.
  • At most domain registrars, you can buy a separate e-mail packages. (I pay €2 / month for a 5GB inbox)
