I did exactly as the tutorial says, using the Date / Time Picker control, but when I enter a value in the field, it is empty.

Provavelmente estão deixando o campo de hora ‘vazio’. è um defeito de UX a maneira como está no momento. O campo de hora deveria abrir automaticamente após a seleção da data.
I’ve created a post before stating the problem with the date/time field UX. The time selector SHOULD appear automatically upon selecting a date.
Uma ideia para ‘tentar evitar’ esse problema, é configurar a cor do placeholder a mesma que a do background (#FFFFFF)
