I am having a difficult time taming that editor, am I missing something? It seems that when it contains dynamic string editing is impossible only Clear Expression and typing it again.
Try using the ‘rich text editor’ button. Would that help? Not sure if that is what you mean.

Yeahs. It’s picky. You have to make sure to not touch the dynamic data when editing. It might not work that nicely.
