I was one of the ones sticking with the old school version, but with the new change upon us, I think I’ve found one subtle change that makes use of existing features in the new version that will kind of be as close to the old as it possibly can.
Could they add the same layout options (Default and Compact) to the list on the left. The big blocks before allowed you to scan quickly with your eyes and see more info. Now you have to physically hover your mouse over each one to preview the full condition.
Ie: the old version, you could see more - the new version, you have to hover over each similar workflow to see the subtle differences
NB: The above is also taking into consideration that I have “Show conditions” turned on - it’s just too cramped still.
I think a lot of the negative feedback is due to the poor use of space. I’m using a large screen and 70% of it is empty.
The list of workflows is squeezed on the side. Information that was on the old UI is missing and it’s really difficult to scan the list to find what you’re looking for, while there is an ocean of unused space on the screen. I’ve spent all day circling back to the design editor and finding the relevant element and clicking ‘edit workflow’.
There are no borders and little spacing around the list of workflows so it’s really diffcult on the eye. And it isn’t helped that the font is 12px and the icons are really small.
I’m not clear on what the value of stating the number of actions in the workflow. In terms of priority information to show on this list, I don’t think number of actions is useful.
So my feedback would be, please make better use of the space and break up the items with borders and spacing.
The actual workflow editor in the centre of the screen is pretty easy to use and has zoom functionality, but could use some more padding and larger fonts to make it easier to work with.
This will be my first time using this term, but I can’t imagine a better debut for GASLIGHTING.
Trying to fix a problem for complex apps, getting feedback it’s actually worse for them, and then smashing it into production with the reasoning that it’s better for them is absolutely bananas.
Hey Bubble, here are some reasons that you could have given that people would have eagerly accepted and would have made this make sense. Feel free to copy any of these:
This helps with app builder performance since there’s less logic at one time. Faster editor, yay!
This unlocks vertical + lateral logic, so instead of having to use more logic or more functions you’ll be able to can have more complex branches and flows. Yay, more flexible!
Anything that uses the keywords ‘downtime’, ‘less bugs’, ‘more reliable’
You could have even just come out and said, ‘We’re copying other products that have this style builder since people seem to like it’
Even if it’s a lie, just tell us you care about these things instead of moving around pixels to get more new users who will churn halfway through their first app. Stop saying that reliability, scalability, and performance are your top priorities and then pushing stuff like this, which is obviously NOT solving any of those ‘top priority’ issues.
Would respect it if y’all just said ‘Hey we need more users so we can be profitable/compete with AI builders/or whatever the real reasons are here, so we’re doing xyz’ instead of saying one thing and doing another.
We have senior Bubblers , even Bubble ambassadors calling out your tone deaf changes.
Pretty disrespectful to all the users who have put in hours and hours into doing your Design and QA team’s jobs only to go ahead with illogical changes a large majority of users have strongly been against.
[reply] This is incredible collection of real issues. In the same spirit, pro bubbles should just setup and manage a https://canny.io/ board for Bubble to crowdsource votes/feedback. Would also be hilarious to track what they say they’re working on vs what they’re releasing
I could sit here and write a detailed breakdown of everything wrong with this new editor—heck, even submit a dozen bug reports like I’ve got nothing better to do. But let’s be honest, that feedback’s going straight to the void, never to be seen again. So why waste the energy?
Instead, I’m just gonna upvote the fact that this editor is absolute trash. It’s clunkier, slower, and makes building apps a chore. A bad one. Like, “who approved this and why do they hate us” kind of bad.
I’m sure someone somewhere thinks this is part of a grand master plan. But from down here in the land of actual users? Everything’s worse now, but hey, at least it looks nicer.
It is actually shameful that you continue with the positive tones on this when the community and people most using Bubble have shown it to not be a popular viewpoint. Bubble can continue the path to obscurity, I’ll no longer be developing on it. This new view makes it 10x harder to even understand existing flows or migrate elsewhere. That’s probably the real point of doing it.
is there any way to revert back to the old design? i’m not sure if im ready to interact with the learning curve of the new one, and I have programming deadlines I need to hit.
deadlines that i only made based off of knowing how fast i can usually work with the usual editor
Now, I have to click the workflow one at a time to see the Conditions attached to that workflow in order for me to find the right workflow. If I have a button clicked event, and if i have 10 conditions, i have to click 10 times to find the right one ! Come on…obviously the one who design this new UI is not a Professional Bubble developer and has no idea how we work at all. Please give us back the option to revert to back to old UI..
This could trigger a new migration of professional developer to another tool … already started to learn and perform on other tool since bubble doesnt improve performance … now with this mandatory change … too much
Why is the right panel empty when clicking on a folder?
It would be really helpful to see a grid giving a global view of every workflow in that folder.
Why can we rename a folder in the left panel with a double-click, but not in the right panel or in the title of the options window?
In the left panel, why are you showing the number of actions (who really cares??) instead of the “only when” condition?
That would be so much more useful!
[update] I didn’t see the option that shows condition. Unfortunately, it’s quite narrow and it comes with an ellipsis
**Why doas toggling a folder only work when clicking on the very small icon on the left, and not when clicking anywhere on the row? **
@kate.mcnally lots and lots of bugs in app now because of this…please roll back to fix the bugs quickly for users, and then have team do Q&A to ensure when they try and roll out again, we do not have so many bugs
On which category ?, just categorize users if you nominally take those numbers, users that have more than 20 reusables, max min wf number, number of year actively building, agency owner or not, number of plugins that thosoe users have, plugin types. computer type. After that normalize the data
