Exciting update: Our certification platform is now built on Bubble!

Hey Bubble community,

In case we haven’t met, I’m Jeremy. I work on the Education team here at Bubble. I’m thrilled to share some fantastic news with you: We’ve rebuilt our certification platform entirely on Bubble, and we couldn’t be more excited about the results.

This project has been a labor of love, showcasing the incredible power and versatility of Bubble. We have a detailed blog post that dives into the entire process of rebuilding, the challenges we faced, and why this upgrade is a game-changer.

What’s new?

Our revamped certification platform is designed to provide a seamless and efficient experience. Here are some of the exciting updates:

  • Improved navigation: Easily move through the exam and bookmark questions to review later.
  • Enhanced reliability: We’ve reduced our exam crash rate from 5% to virtually 0%.
  • Better proctoring: Our new service offers 24/7 support without interruptions during your exam.
  • Bulk purchases for agencies: Simplify bulk enrollments and track your purchases effortlessly.
  • Unified UI: Enjoy a consistent look and feel that matches the Bubble brand.
  • Free attempt for new agencies: All new agency seats will come with a free attempt on the certification platform between now and September 1, 2024.

Why the rebuild?

When we first launched the Bubble Developer Certification in October, we knew it was just the beginning. The initial version, built on third-party tools, helped us quickly establish a standard. However, as we gathered feedback and observed the community’s experience, it became clear that we needed to bring the certification process in-house to provide the best possible user experience.

A collaborative effort

We partnered with Airdev to make this happen. Their experience with the certification exam, development, expertise, and commitment were crucial in bringing our vision to life. Together, we’ve created a certification platform that not only meets but exceeds our initial goals. I have to say, I’ve been building on Bubble for over five years and ‌I’m really impressed by what we’ve been able to build.

Our latest blog post covers the details of this journey, from our initial decision to use a third-party tool to the rebuild on Bubble. We hope this story inspires other companies to consider moving their tools and processes to Bubble.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved and excited about the future possibilities this opens up. Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of the Bubble community!

So the experience is better? Is that it? While the experience certainly wasn’t great (as I posted before that when you return to earlier questions all saved answers go poof) what’s the point of adding “a layer of paint” to an exam that doesn’t test any actual Bubble or developer skills?

As a Bubble customer you building your websites with Bubble really is a risky act , of course it demonstrates devotion and trust for the product but guys you have 4.3 secs page load speed , 33 score on light house . Okay Bubble exam takers will not exit the website but please don’t remake Bubble main page on Bubble , that is a really sincere request coming from a guy who really wants Bubble to achieve success. Normally I would attribute this as a sign of future performance improvement s but now I am starting to think it won’t happen.

Lighthouse scores <> fast website.

Facebook has terrible lighthouse scores. Microsoft has terrible lighthouse scores. It’s not the end all be all of good web development. Most people looking at download/using an app aren’t looking at lighthouse scores.

Most websites are really good at giving you the perception of speed without actually being fast, especially with large datasets.

So is this a good risk to take ? or are you saying benefits from demonstration of trust compensates loss from building the main page on Bubble ?

It would be super weird if they didn’t build additional pages on their own platform known for building pages.

You don’t get it do you ? This is not some saloon scheduling platform , this is not food marketplace , this is competition with traditional code , it is like fighting Zeus barehand

It’s already on Bubble… the entire Bubble marketing page / meta app is on Bubble…

:joy::joy::joy:

As poetic as that sounds, no, for Bubble it’s about converting new users, and I’d bet that their banner saying ‘Built with Bubble’ would help users do that.

I can’t follow you guys logic ,let me break it to you so that you understand

· New customers mean brighter future for Bubble thus us .
· Bubble’s vision is to replace traditional code.
· Bubble 1-2 months ago had a major reliability issue and serious downtime thus acted with emergency to solve it
· Bubble has a serious performance issue

According to google every 1 sec’s delay on page load 20% conversion rate drops , this is misleading of course as the targets are developers so lets say 10% , and lets not focus on 20% the number itself can be wrong so lets call it X and Bubble loses X/2% every second of delay for new customer conversion . (These numbers are arbitrarily chosoen cause this is a multi varied complex problem )

So , depending on when the new customers arrives or when Bubble starts serious marketing campaign , there is a reduced conversion or call it money burnt . This is a risk for Bubble’s future.

I assure you Bubble will have tested the conversion rates and worked out what’s best…

instead of bathing in sarcasm and cynicism, maybe come up with constructive criticism.

since my open letter we did have some new features added.

Yeah I liked your writing and in full support of this . Here was my take on your post

''Totally agree , I believe focusing on agencies is a short-term solution , the better the product means not better the UI but better the tools . SEO , Performance , built-in pickers , better built-in maps , working group focus .When the users are able to do that without single custom css or a code than that means more agencies , cheaper , faster . We are wondering whether we will get good performance yet need to write a code to make group focus element fit the parent groups width or need css or a plugin for date picker , or sliders to be usable in complex cases . I imagine a Bubble where whenever new user types ‘‘what is pagination ?’’ , already existent tools inside editor appears , a scrolling page to load , js tool etc… I mean a new user can’t optimize images for modern serve for webp natively. (without complex additional steps) ‘’

Here is from 8 months ago https://youtu.be/yWZBeteL1D8?t=1105 , not a single action made after this , in relation to the performance problem .

And now , after all the arguments you tell me how cynic I am ? FYI , I still bet on Bubbles success but lets not generalize the problems Bubble have and stick to the topic here

again you are trying to win arguments instead of win the battle.

it is a free world. you can learn another platform.
