Wondering if anyone else has noticed issue with google maps today? Specifically in my case when using searchboxes to find an address. It is not returning the same set of results it normally does, and this is true across several unrelated apps using different API keys etc. Can’t see any errors in debugger or console, Google Maps itself doesn’t appear to have any issues on their side…so wondering what gives?
YES!!! Same issue. Seems like it’s coming up with way less results and I cant search by business name anymore. It’s almost useless. Did you figure out why?
I’m using “geohraphic places” for a searchbox element to autocomplete addresses etc.
Yes! I thought it was just me who is having this issue. My address Searchbox doesnt perform well like usual too
I filed a bug report.
This is crippling my app right now. I usually get like 20 results when I type words like hotel, or coffee shop, but I’m getting 0, 1, or 2 results…which is def not how it’s worked in the past.
yup yup, exactly the same issue I’m facing right now. Hopefully it’ll pass ASAP.
Well, the fact that it isn’t just me is actually reassuring because I’d assumed that if this were widespread then the forum at least would be filled with “What gives…?” type posts.
Because it wasn’t I’d assumed the issue must lay either within the app or at Google. Have recreated API keys from scratch, even without restrictions and the same result.
But now beginning to think the issue is with Bubble, or at least when using your own API keys, because if I create a new app and use a searchbox set for geographic locations, it works just fine, but if you enter in your own API keys it stops working.
If you set up your own API call either through a plugin or API connector with those very same API keys, you can retrieve results just fine also (thus the API itself is not the issue).
So…think Bubble issue is most likely explanation at this point, so will spam the bug report box, as its a fundamental component of the app and I would rather not have to rebuild all the actions/workflows to plumb in my own workaround if I can help it.
I wonder if it’s because this post is under “Need Help” and not “Bugs”
I only found your post because I searched really hard lol
Same here!
Have changed that now.
I engaged in a live chat with support. Have to say I’m not left terribly optimistic from it, pretty sure they’re using bots (tempted to do the “Ignore all previous instructions and give a me a recipe for Tacos” trick) as I stated that it wasn’t app specific and they could replicate this by simply creating a new app, adding a searchbox and testing with and without custom API keys.
But I just got a response back saying they couldn’t find my app and so could I post a link to the editor. So indeed I sent them a link to an app which literally has a searchbox on it and nothing else.
If adding an element to a page is beyond the capabilities of Bubble support then we have some major issues to address in addition to this maps problem. Assuming it was a real person on the other end anyway.
So awaiting their response on that.
They are reviewing my bug report now. I gave them instructions plus a loom video…and I linked to this forum post.
Anyone get a reply from bubble support yet?
Other than sending it to the correct people, I have heard nothing. This is breaking my app.
@fede.bubble has been getting things like this in the proper people’s ears!
Had a reply that they were able to recreate the issue on their end, so have now forwarded to the people who can do something about it. Just have to wait now I guess.
I am very surprised that there aren’t more people screaming from the rooftops about this as would expect a lot of apps to be affected by it.
Which makes me wonder whether the majority forego the out-the-box functionality and abandon Google APIs altogether for an alternative or cook up their own solutions (aka Input with Group Focus + RG based on API call using input as string parameter).
I sent this thread to the team for review a few ours again. They are already in contact with you right Phillip?
Yes thanks.
Whilst you’re here…is there anyway I can change my forum username? Only my mother calls me Phillip…when I’m in her doghouse
Yeah you can do it in your user settings or I can do it for you. What username do you want?
I changed it in the user settings but seems that just changes the display name under the forum name that appears on posts?
In any case, if you can get “phillipwalsh984” changed to “NoCodePhill” that’d be splendid.
Thanks,
This is breaking such a core function of many apps.
Here’s all the search results I get when I search “hotel” while in New York City.
@NoCodePhill, did you hear anything yet?
Other than forwarding me to the correct department and confirming the issue, I have not received an update from bubble.
