How can I limit the max. amount of characters in the Search Box input element?

Hey there,

I’m using the Search Box input element to select a category for a post or create a new one if the desired category doesn’t already exists. So far so good, that works pretty well using the “Allow entries not in list when typing” option. However, how can I limit the max. amount of characters of that element equal to the common text input element?
