Before I get too deep into my inspection app in Bubble, I am checking to see if it’s possible to have an in-app camera feature?
The camera plugins in the marketplace are not suitable for my purpose because they require extra steps to capture each picture. The intent is to collect data that is verified with images. There is a possibility that 50 images could be taken at any given time. So, instant image capture will speed up the process compared to the steps to use the “Use Photo” button on each photo capture. Same with uploading pictures from the phone gallery.
The main feature of this potential business app is the possibility of an in-app camera feature with a wide angle option and date stamps on the image.
I need to know if it can be done in Bubble. If so, I will rely on an expert builder to install it.
Generally when it comes to accessing the device camera from a browser the features are pretty limited. There are some advanced techniques that could enabled the functionality of what you’re looking for, but it won’t be a very clean solution (you would need to hire a proper code developer like me).
Regardless, this isn’t a bubble limitation per say - this is just what browsers in general have access to. For a more native approach (from a smartphone) you’d need to create a real application available from your device’s app store. Currently with bubble, you could have a third party wrap your app or you could wait for bubble to release it’s native app builder (arriving soon, apparently)
If you’d like I can help you find the best option for your use case, whether it’s using bubble or not. You can book a free 30 minute coaching call with me here, we can discuss more.
Hi! My team at Zeroic just built out a video recording plugin that also exposes the capability to capture images via an in-app camera itself. Maybe that’s something you could explore. We’ll be opening up the beta for it this week. Feel free to DM in case you want to use it
