Inbuilt User Chat! Is It Possible? Like Facebook

Has anybody built a User to User chat system?
Are there any plugins or templates that allow you to do this?

How can I set it up without slowing down the website?
Help!!!

Hi, indeed you can find templates with chat system inside, but if you already have an app you’ll need to build your own chat from scratch.
If you need I may share with you one I built myself.
