My app sends confirmation messages via SendGrid which works well. However, one of these emails didn’t arrive when sent yesterday. The reason appears to be that they’re being “Throttled”. Admittedly it’s to an AOL address. I keep getting the message
“Email was deferred due to the following reason(s): [IPs were throttled by recipient server]”
Is there anything I can do to prevent this occurring or am I better off just putting a caveat on my app that I can’t support sending AOL addresses ?
If you’re not on a dedicated IP plan with sendgrid this is common. Happens with dedicated still if you cooked your sending reputation.
Sendgrid is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to providers. They’re notorious for not delivering to certain providers. Hotmail or outlook most commonly.
Postmark, mailgun, Amazon SES are the best.
