Meet GoLocal! — Localize Your Bubble App in Minutes: Auto Translate Everything, Unlimited Words

Hey!

I’m Eric from Xodera — an Estonian-based registered software agency focused on building developer tools for the no-code ecosystem.

Today we’re excited to share something we’ve been working on for a while — GoLocal! — Auto Translate, a full-featured SaaS translation engine built from the ground up specifically for Bubble.io applications.

GoLocal! solves the global challenge of app localization and expanding into new markets — without any changes to your app, your UI, or your database. We built it because we saw the same frustration over and over again in the Bubble community: making your app multilingual is either painfully manual, absurdly expensive, or both. So we decided to fix it properly.

:firecracker: The Problem: Multilingual Bubble Apps Are Painful

If you’ve ever tried to make your Bubble app work in more than one language, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Let’s be real:

:red_circle: Pain #1 — App Text is a nightmare at scale

Bubble’s built-in App Text feature requires you to manually create a translation key for every single piece of text in your app. Every button label, every heading, every tooltip, every error message, every placeholder. Got 500 text elements? That’s 500 keys × however many languages you need. Change one word in English? Go update it in 6 other languages manually. It simply doesn’t scale, and it turns your development workflow into a full-time translation management job.

:red_circle: Pain #2 — Dynamic database content is untranslatable

Even if you painstakingly set up App Text for your static UI, what about your database content? Category names in dropdowns, product descriptions in repeating groups, article titles, status labels, option set values — App Text doesn’t cover any of this. The common workaround? Add a name_en, name_es, name_fr field for every translatable column in every table. Multiply that by every language. Your database schema becomes unmanageable overnight.

:red_circle: Pain #3 — Search breaks across languages

A French-speaking visitor types “Électronique” into your search bar. Your database stores “Electronics” in English. Zero results. The visitor thinks your app is broken. To fix this, you’d need to build a reverse-translation layer yourself — and that’s a project in itself.

:red_circle: Pain #4 — API translation services are complex and expensive

You could wire up Google Translate API or DeepL yourself. But now you’re managing API keys, handling rate limits, building a caching layer so you don’t blow through your budget, writing custom JavaScript for every dynamic element, dealing with error handling and fallbacks. It takes weeks to build properly and is fragile to maintain.

:red_circle: Pain #5 — Third-party localization platforms don’t understand Bubble

Services like Weglot and Localize are designed for traditional websites, not Bubble’s SPA architecture. They struggle with dynamic content loading, conditional visibility, repeating groups, popups, custom states, and page transitions. They charge per word (which adds up fast with dynamic content), and they require you to adapt your workflow to their platform instead of the other way around.

:red_circle: Pain #6 — No control over translation quality

Most automated tools translate and that’s it — take it or leave it. When the AI mistranslates a critical term, a legal disclaimer, or your brand name, you’re stuck with it or you have to switch to a completely manual approach.

:white_check_mark: The Solution: GoLocal! — Fully Automatic, Purpose-Built for Bubble

GoLocal! takes a completely different approach. Instead of making you do the translation work, it handles everything automatically — from detecting your app’s source language to delivering cached translations from the nearest edge server:

1. Install the free plugin, drag the element onto your page, and you’re done.

No text mapping. No JSON files. No translation keys. No element tagging. GoLocal! automatically detects every visible text node on the page — buttons, labels, headings, dynamic content, repeating groups, option sets, placeholders, tooltips, conditional elements, popups — and translates everything.

2. AI-powered translations that actually understand context.

We don’t just run text through a generic machine translator. GoLocal! uses context-aware AI that understands UI patterns. It knows “Save” as a button label is different from “Save” as a noun. It handles short labels, long paragraphs, form placeholders, and dropdown options with natural-sounding results in every language.

3. Translate your database content — without touching your database.

This is the game-changer. With GoLocal!'s Dataset Preloading, you feed your entire database vocabulary (category names, product titles, article bodies, status labels, option set values) into the plugin using Bubble’s native “format as text” expression. GoLocal! pre-translates everything and caches it globally. When a visitor arrives, all database content loads instantly in their language. Your database stays clean — one language, no duplicate fields, no schema changes. Ever.

4. Search works in the visitor’s language.

When a French user types a search query in French, GoLocal! automatically reverse-translates it back to your original language before the Bubble search runs. The user searches in their language, your app searches in yours — seamlessly. This works out of the box with zero configuration.

5. Fully automated language detection — both source and target.

GoLocal! automatically detects your app’s source language from the page content, and determines the visitor’s preferred language from their browser settings. No manual configuration needed. Visitors can also switch languages manually with the built-in language switcher widget.

6. Edge-cached globally — instant translations after the first visit.

The first time any text is translated, it’s cached on Cloudflare’s global CDN across 300+ edge locations. Every subsequent visitor gets translations in under 20ms — faster than a database query. Your app feels like it was built in that language from the start.

7. Exclude specific elements from translation.

Got elements you don’t want translated? Set do_not_translate_ids with a comma-separated list of Bubble element IDs, and GoLocal! will skip them entirely. Perfect for keeping brand names, code snippets, or specific UI sections untouched.

8. FOUC prevention built in.

GoLocal! includes built-in Flash of Unstyled Content prevention. The page stays hidden until translations are applied, so your visitors never see untranslated text flash and then switch — it’s smooth from the first pixel.

9. RTL language support.

When a visitor switches to Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, or Urdu, GoLocal! automatically applies right-to-left text direction to your app. No extra CSS, no conditional logic — it just works.

:jigsaw: How It Works — Under 5 Minutes to Set Up

  1. Install the plugin — Search “GoLocal” in the Bubble Plugin Marketplace and install it (it’s free).

  2. Create a project — Sign in at goinglocal.online/dashboard with Google. Create a project, add your Bubble app domain, and choose your target languages.

  3. Add the element — Drag the GoLocal! visual element onto your page, paste your API key. Optionally set dataset_1 if you want to preload database content.

  4. That’s it. Preview your app, use the language widget, and watch everything translate automatically.

:bulb: Tip: GoLocal! is a visual element that must be visible on page load (set “This element is visible on page load” to always on). To keep it completely out of the way, place it inside a Floating Group set to “Beneath the page” with 1px × 1px size. The Floating Group must also be visible on page load. This way, GoLocal! runs in the background without affecting your layout or being visible to users.

:package: Dataset Preloading — The Database Translation Killer Feature

This is what makes GoLocal! truly different from everything else out there. Most translation tools ignore database content entirely, forcing you to maintain parallel fields for every language. GoLocal! solves this elegantly:

In your Bubble plugin element, set the dataset_1 field to a “Do a Search for → format as text” expression. GoLocal! supports two formats:

For multi-field items (articles, products with title + description):

  • Content to show per list item: {This Article's Title;This Article's Body}

  • Delimiter: ,

For single-value lists (categories, tags, statuses):

  • Content to show per list item: This Category's Name

  • Delimiter: ,

When a visitor arrives, all those values are already translated and cached. Dropdowns, repeating groups, cards, tables — everything loads instantly in the visitor’s language. No extra database fields. No extra workflows. No changes to your data schema. Just your existing data, translated on the fly and cached globally.

:globe_with_meridians: Reverse Search — Search In Any Language

Imagine a Spanish-speaking user visiting your English-language marketplace. They type “Zapatillas deportivas” (sports sneakers) into your search box. With GoLocal!, that query is automatically reverse-translated to “Sports sneakers” before Bubble’s search constraint runs. The user finds exactly what they’re looking for — in their language.

This works out of the box with Bubble’s native search inputs. No extra plugins, no workflows, no API calls. Just install GoLocal! and search works globally.

:pencil2: Translation Editor — Full Control Over Every Translation

GoLocal! doesn’t just translate and walk away. Your dashboard includes a full Translation Editor where you can:

  • Browse all translations organized by language pair (e.g., English → Spanish, English → French)

  • Search and filter to quickly find any specific translation by original or translated text

  • Edit any AI translation with your preferred wording — override the machine with human-quality text where it matters most

  • Changes apply instantly — no redeployment, no cache clearing, no waiting. Edit a translation in the dashboard, and the next visitor sees your version immediately

This is perfect for brand-specific terminology, legal disclaimers, product names, or any text where you need exact control. The AI handles the vast majority of translations beautifully, and the editor gives you that last bit of polish wherever you need it.

:bar_chart: Analytics Dashboard — Full Visibility Into Your Multilingual App

Your GoLocal! dashboard isn’t just for configuration — it’s a comprehensive analytics center:

  • Monthly Active Users (MAU) — track how many visitors are using translations, with historical trends

  • Translation pairs — see exactly which language pairs are active (e.g., uk→en: 247 translations, uk→es: 160) with breakdowns of auto-translated vs. manually edited vs. cached

  • Usage statistics — requests, texts translated, texts served from cache, token usage, estimated costs

  • Language distribution — understand which languages your visitors actually use, so you can prioritize content and marketing efforts

  • Bundle overview — see how many translation pairs are cached per language

  • Multi-project management — manage all your apps from one dashboard, each with its own API key, domain binding, language settings, and analytics

No more guessing about your international audience. You know exactly how your multilingual app is performing, which languages drive traffic, and where to invest next.

:wrench: Advanced Features for Power Users

For those who need fine-grained control, GoLocal! offers:

  • Element Actions — trigger switch_language, start_translation, stop_translation, and rescan_dom from any Bubble workflow

  • Exposed States — read current_language, detected_language, translation_complete, preload_status, total_texts, errors, and more directly in Bubble expressions

  • External Database Dictionaries — connect Airtable, Supabase, PostgreSQL, or MySQL databases as translation sources. Select specific tables and text fields through an interactive schema browser. GoLocal! pre-translates all values automatically

  • Widget Customization — position the language switcher widget in any corner (bottom-right, bottom-left, top-right, top-left), or hide it entirely and build your own UI using element actions

  • Domain Binding — API keys are bound to specific domains for security. Add multiple domains per project (great for staging + production)

:handshake: Partner Program — Earn 20% Recurring Commissions

This one is for the builders, agencies, freelancers, bloggers, and anyone in the Bubble community who wants to earn real recurring income by recommending a tool they believe in.

How it works:

  1. Join in one click — Go to your GoLocal! dashboard → Partner tab. Click “Join Partner Program.” You get a unique referral link instantly. No applications, no approvals, no waiting period.

  2. Share your link — Put it in blog posts, YouTube tutorials, Bubble forum comments, social media, client proposals, or anywhere else. When someone clicks your link and creates a GoLocal! account, they’re permanently attributed to you as a referral.

  3. Earn 20% of every subscription payment — When your referred user subscribes to any paid plan (Starter, Pro, or Business), you earn 20% of their subscription fee every single month for the lifetime of their subscription. This is not a one-time bonus — it’s recurring, monthly passive income that grows with every referral.

  4. Get paid automatically to your bank account — You provide your IBAN (we support 70+ countries across Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Latin America) and your preferred payout currency. When your balance is ready, payouts are processed automatically via bank transfer directly to your account. No PayPal middlemen, no manual invoicing, no chasing payments. You earn — we pay, on time, every time.

What you get in the Partner Dashboard:

  • :link: Unique referral link — one-click copy, share anywhere

  • :busts_in_silhouette: Referred users list — who signed up, when, and their subscription status

  • :dollar: Real-time earnings tracker — commissions earned, pending, and available for payout

  • :bank: Payout history — every payout with date, amount, currency, and transfer status

  • :page_facing_up: Automated documents — partner agreements and payout receipts generated and downloadable

  • :globe_with_meridians: IBAN + currency selection — set your banking details once, get paid automatically forever

Quick math:

  • Refer 10 users on Starter ($15/mo) → $30/month passive income

  • Refer 5 users on Pro ($35/mo) → $35/month passive income

  • Refer 3 users on Business ($89/mo) → $53.40/month passive income

  • Every new referral compounds your recurring monthly earnings

If you build Bubble apps for clients, recommend GoLocal! as part of your localization stack. You solve their problem and earn passive income from it. Win-win.
