Mobile plan opt-in starts September 2

Hi everyone,

I’m Nick, the product manager on our Mobile team. It’s been amazing to see the mobile apps you’ve built since our public beta started — even during the summer! We’ve been working hard on our roadmap (including in-app purchases and overall reliability / performance) and can’t wait to see what else you’ll build in the coming months.

As we shared during our announcement in June, launching mobile apps on Bubble will require a paid mobile plan starting on October 1, 2025. As a reminder, a paid web plan is still required to deploy a mobile app until then.

Today, we wanted to share an update on how to select your new mobile plan in September to ensure that your live mobile apps stay online.

Who needs a mobile plan?

Anyone with a live mobile app or anyone who is planning to deploy a mobile app after October 1, 2025.

  • Build and test: Free (no plan needed)

  • Deploy to live: Mobile plan is needed

  • Publish to app stores: Mobile plan is needed

What you need to know

Timing: For those of you who already have live mobile apps, you can opt in to your new plan starting at 12 PM ET (16:00 UTC) on September 2, 2025. We recommend reviewing this blog post to see which plan makes the most sense for you. (You will not be charged for your new plan until October.)

Important: To avoid any service disruption to your app’s users, please carve out some time to opt in to your mobile plan.

  • If you don’t select a paid mobile plan before 00:01 UTC on October 1, 2025: Your mobile app will be downgraded to a Free plan and no longer be live.

  • If you sign up for a mobile plan between October 1–14: Your app will go back online without re-deploying.

  • If you sign up for a mobile plan after October 14: You’ll have to re-deploy your app, and any users who have an existing version of your app will need to update to the new version, once approved, for the app to continue working again.

Your mobile plan options

Based on your project setup, you’ll see the plan that your project qualifies for:

  • Mobile-only: For projects that only have a native mobile app

  • Web + mobile: For projects that include both web and mobile apps

Here’s what each mobile plan comes with (quantities vary by plan):

Build allotments

  • What is a build? We generate the build files needed to publish your app to the App Store and Google Play Store.

  • How many builds will my project get? Each plan has a monthly limit on builds due to the costs involved (see below). You get extra builds within the first 3 months of your subscription date to help with your initial launch. Failed builds and required builds due to Bubble native code updates we make don’t count against your limit.

Multiple live versions

  • What are live versions? Bubble manages concurrent live versions of your mobile app on your behalf. This allows you to deploy new versions of your mobile app without worrying about backwards compatibility or breaking existing versions while a new version is under review.

  • How many live versions will my project get? Each plan supports a different number of live versions (see below). When you hit your limit, you’ll need to deprecate an older version or upgrade your plan. If you accidentally remove a version, you can recover it within 14 days.

How to opt in starting September 2

Here’s how to opt in from Home:

  1. Visit bubble.io/home to see your projects

  2. Select a project with a mobile app

  3. Tap the Opt in banner in the sidebar

  4. Select your new mobile plan

Here’s how to opt in from each project’s editor:

  1. Go to your Settings tab

  2. Go to the My plan subtab

  3. Tap Opt in button in the top banner

  4. Select your new mobile plan

Don’t worry — you can change your mind and cancel your pre-enrollment anytime before October 1 if your needs change.

When you will be charged

For monthly plans: Your plan will upgrade on October 1, regardless of your current billing cycle. You’ll be charged a pro-rated amount on October 1, then the new plan price on your next billing cycle.

For annual plans: Your plan upgrades on October 1, but your annual subscription cycle dates stay the same. You’ll be charged the pro-rated difference between your current annual plan and the new plan.

We’re here to help

We understand pricing changes can take time, but we’re committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. If you have questions about which plan is right for your project or need help with the opt-in process, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.

Thank you for being part of the Bubble community!

Is there a way to delete a mobile app? (I guess maybe in future, also option to delete web app as some user could only subscribe to mobile option)

@Jici I’m assuming you mean if a project has both web and mobile apps, how to delete one and keep the other in the project?

Great question. There is no option to fully delete an app yet, but there is also no obligation to pay for an app if its in a project. For example, if I have a web app and mobile app in my project, I can choose to only support a Live mobile app with a mobile project plan or only support a live web app with a web project plan. If one day I want to have both be Live, I can always switch to a web + mobile project plan.

Following this..

Hi @graham3 - the new plans will are also available on an annual billing cycle w/ annual discounts as well. If you are currently on an annual plan and you opt into a new mobile plan, then on October 1st you will be charged a pro-rated amount for the new plan. This will not change the actual billing cycle for the plan ie your annual renewal date will not change. Let me know if this answers your question!

Hi Nick, I think he is referring to the fact that prices have not been published on a monthly basis, but only on advance annual billing.. and that’s what we all ask for a while. It seems that the mobile version is only available on an annual billing plan.

Ah yes, thank you for clarifying. That was an unfortunate oversight on our part. The blog post has been updated to reflect both annual and monthly pricing! Thanks for flagging.

Hi Nick,

I have a project with both web and mobile app on a Free plan, as I’m waiting for IAP to be launched. I only want to launch the mobile app, while the web one won’t go live. To confirm, can I choose the Mobile Only Starter plan? Thank you!

Correct, you’ll be able to pay for a Starter Mobile plan only, while still having a free web app in that project, if you only want your mobile app to be live

Hi Nick,

Will in app purchases work before October 1? This isn’t “nice to have” for us, we can’t go live without it.

@nick.carroll 2 questions.

We currently have 5 live versions, but plan to use the starter plan. How does that transition work?

Secondly, if you force us to deploy a new build because of a native update, does that count towards the build allotment?

Great question. The next time you go to deploy, you will be asked to get your live versions under the allotment to continue - so in this case, under 3. Until then, there will be no impact to any existing live versions.

No, builds that are required due to new native code or during the debugging process with our support team will not count against the allotment.
