Monthly Community Update -- May 2020

Thanks @josh !
I have been waiting Google Optimize integration for a while now and I cannot wait until you will release it
By the way. what is the deadline that you estimate for this?

The editor redesign will happen step by step. We’re going to start with a new UI and some easier interactions first, and once this is live, will look into an overhaul of the responsive engine (not sure where I said it was early 2020 but i was being a little optimistic then re timeline).

Hey guys, have you done any current user testing or focus groups with the new re-design? I’d love to be involved and give some feedback (been here since the design before this  )]

Also I would have expected in such an active community if anyone got a sneak peak already they would mention it here haha  just I know from experience “big overhauls” are always risky!

Take a look at this thread :eyes:

This will be so awesome

This type of communication is invaluable. We are very excited about the additional testing and the advances for the version control system. We believe if bubble can support teams of developers, it will really grow even more quickly, and obviously you are working on the speed and scale issues which will really help when taking this to bigger customers and opportunities.

Thanks for the hard work.

Wowzers. Now that is a great set of release notes! Thanks so much!

“Another idea we’re discussing internally is rolling out code to users on our free plan prior to rolling it out to customers on our paid plan, so that people with apps that are in prod uction are less likely to be impacted by bugs”

I would suggest to break free plan users into two buckets:

  1. those whose first project is created within last 30 days.
  2. those who had onboarded for more than 30 days.

First group are prospects who’re evaluating platform’s features and stability, to get a feeling whether this platform is good enough for them. It’s probably better not to make this group beta testers.

This strategy has to be communicated upfront during signup, so that customers set their expectation right shall they decide to remain in free plan after 30 days.

I’ve had a few whinges lately on the forum but this post is exactly what I needed to hear.

It’s super important for there to be communication so we know that things are growing around us.

For me some of this whinging and anxiety for that matter was coming from a place where I have put so much time and effort into learning Bubble, yet it looked like the competition was going to far out perform it.
For me this will really suck because as everyone knows, every bubble skill is pretty much just a bubble skill.

I really commend you for writing such an in-depth update, since it’s been so long there was obviously a lot to write but I really hope you continue on a weekly or monthly basis realeasing these updates even if they’re much smaller.

I believe it gives your users something to get excited about month on month, and also makes us feel more connected as an ecosystem.

Sometimes it just feels like it just us users out here and management is on holidays.

Fantastic tho really loved reading your post Josh and I think I’ll go back and read it again

This is exactly what I was mentioning in my topic (which may the kickstarter for this topic Does Bubble stopped evolving?) - transperency.

Thank you!

Really appreciate these updates. Thx.

At last and what everyone has been waiting for! Don’t leave a vacuum for people to fill. I know many in the IT sector struggle to proactively reach out because its typically not in their nature. But you need to communicate with your customers or risk losing them. Great to see a decent and Bubble supported video chat plugin being worked on.

Redesign of the editor is very exciting! Waiting :star_struck:

Thanks for the reply Emmanuel. Understood, the approach makes sense and makes for a smoother transition. As like many other Bubblers, cant wait to get my hands on the new editor, looking great so far from screens.

Ah sorry, my mistake, I was getting a bit excited, I misquoted the following:

We’re going to work on our responsive engine in the new year

Cheers

I appreciate that you embrace this transparent way of communicating.

All this sounds great :+1:

I haven’t seen any reference to updating apps without a refresh.

For the teams that work on the same app simultaneously, this is key. Right now, it’s impossible to work simultaneously, as any change that someone makes means that the whole team must refresh the app.

It’s on our list, but no timeline on this. If you use multiple versions though that shouldn’t be an issue if everyone has its own version.

But the multiple versions feature is simply not ready; it’s fraught with problems.

Numerous examples on the forum; your own team has acknowledged it needs improvement; and my experience with it led to days worth of repair.

Not a real reply to @miguel’s request IMO.

I really appreciate how open and transparent these updates are (the first I’ve actually read). It gives me much more confidence in the company. Thank you Josh & Emmanuel.
