Bubble just added a rollback feature for Bubble updates on dedicated plans!
One of the best features of the Dedicated plan (I guess it’s called Enterprise now?) is controlling when Bubble itself is updated on your server. It adds a lot of stability and predictability to your app!
It’s entirely possible to go months or years between updates. However, it’s best practice to not go too long between updates so that your app doesn’t fall too far behind on new Bubble features, bug fixes, and optimizations (especially any versions with feature breaks).
One of the main concerns with updating Bubble is that it’s instantly shown on both dev and live versions. It pulls from the “scheduled” release tier of updates so it’s a bit more stable than all the immediate releases, but sometimes bugs can get through. Users on dedicated have the ability to copy their app to the main cluster before an update to check for any incompatibilities or bugs, but this doesn’t copy over the database so unless your app’s database is small and simple and easy to reproduce or upload via CSV then this is of limited use (to me personally, anyway). Much better is the ability to roll back the update if you observe any issues.
Previously we’ve had to contact support each time to roll back updates, but now we can initiate that on our own! Dedicated just got even better!
