For those who haven’t seen, this topic is also being discussed here: Exciting news: New workflow tab to become default experience - #230 by dee. A lot of feedback was given here already weeks ago.
I find the new tab very confusing. Yes, the old one also had its weaknesses, but thanks to the tiles of the individual workflows and their size, I was able to navigate quickly through many workflows.
Now you just have a list of texts in a row. It’s not easy for the eye to grasp quickly. There are no visual separations (and no, the list or grid view doesn’t change that)
Personally, I found the horizontal alignment of the actions better, but that’s probably a matter of taste.
The assignment of colours for the workflows was also better organised back then, but now it seems much more ‘hidden’ to me. But the problem with the colours is that the tiles are far too small for the colours to make sense or the contrast is far too weak.
Until yesterday, for example, no ctrl+c/v worked in Firefox, but it works today. But something like the Delete key still doesn’t work for me.
Even after many hours of working in the new view, the new view makes me much slower.
@fede.bubble - I really miss how the old editor didn’t make me wait 10-20 seconds every time I need to open the workflow editor. Literally dreading clicking the workflow tab.
That sounds abnormally slow. Does it happen every time? I’ve seen all kinds of feedback on the new UI here but not super long load times
What you mean ? I provided feedback day one on how it takes 8 secs to load wf editor ??
I’m on a 2024 MacBook Pro. My app has a page with over 1k workflows. Yes, it is consistent now.
In the old editor it would take 4-8 seconds to load the workflow editor for the first time in a session but after that I could switch between views in 1-2 seconds
Must’ve forgotten that, sorry emir. We’ve been getting a ton of feedback.
And got it gp. I’ll flag. In the meantime you can drop a bug report to help with the triaging
Mine was 1 sec, but issue checker off always, for 2024 computer those numbers are insane
Bubble heard the feedback on the buggy page editor and said hold my beer while we destroy the logic side too
Also, this guy fixed it in like a day so its horizontal again - Left-to-right view mod in new workflow editor
In my case, I believe this new UI wastes so much of screen space:
For example, previously, I could see all 39 steps of this workflow without scrolling. Now, I have to scroll a lot, even if I set the compact view I have to scroll.
I believe the previous UI had a much more efficient use of screen space.
Have you thought about simplifying the condition or using a custom event to determine if it should run?
Thank you. Yeah, I don’t think I can simplify that step more than that, and creating a custom event for specific constraints in this workflow would complicate it more. In this workflow, there are 39 steps, many with long conditions, its not only the one in the screenshot.
And I have other workflows with as many steps and long conditions, and even more.
Anyways, even if my architecture was not optimal, the legacy UI didn’t waste so much screen space. I think Bubble here is sacrificing too much UX in exchange for an aesthetic UI improvement that’s pretty uncertain and much likely less valuable than the sacrificed UX.
Does anybody know how to get a custom trigger into a folder? The old workflow made that easy, simply just select folder from a menu on the trigger…now after wasting 10 minutes I can’t figure out how to do it
EDIT finally found it…need to click the 3 dot menu from left side panel and scroll to move to folder…simple enough once found.
OMG! Its WORST update in bubble in 3 years!!!
PLEASE COME BACK OLD BACKEND!!!
My app can’t even open when i loading it…
I don’t mind the new workflow editor, can quite happily use it right now to get done what i need. Saying this however, i don’t think it’s really added much either in terms of speeding up working - and in terms of 2025, it’s pretty underwhelming UI wise (but functional).
For the positives, I do feel that it’s improving my app organisation, as finding myself using folders and renaming things more sensibly.
My main concern though is a really small thing, but i feel it says a lot - even now copy & paste with the keyboard still doesn’t work right. I mean, how on earth can this most basic and important thing have made it this far broken? That worries me a lot as it reflects on the overall quality control side of things.
If they completely stopped working on new features for 1 month and devoted that month entirely to fixing all bugs, I wonder if they could do it.
All, there is a new update from the team here:
Thanks!
