Okta SSO session time

I used these instructions to set up Okta and Bubble SSO, but sessions are expiring within a couple of hours for my clients. They sign in, leave their desks for a few hours, and have to sign back in again.

We’ve already checked their Okta organization settings and their sessions are meant to last for 180 days once logged in, so that’s not the issue.

Has anyone else run into this issue with Okta or other SSO providers? Is there any way to adjust the session time on Bubble’s side or troubleshoot why it’s expiring so quickly?

Hey @giosegar,

That’s the way I setup Okta in one of my apps too. Are you saying the session on Bubble expiring? Like your users get kicked to the screen to log in again?

@johnny Yes, exactly.

How’s your app setup?

@johnny What do you mean? Are you asking how I set up the integration, or something else?

So I’m assuming you have a login page with a button to log in with social login, then select Okta as the provider?

Then what happens? The user’s redirected to a logged in page? Is there at any point a log out workflow action that is run?

Yes, we have a login page with an SSO button. They click it, it takes them to Okta, and they’re redirected back to the page as a logged in user once done. No log out workflow.

And you’re saying randomly the user gets signed out of your Bubble app?

@johnny Yes, I believe typically when they have been away from the computer rather than during an active session while they’re clicking around. But we’re talking multiple times per day.

That sounds like something that’s happening in your app versus Okta. I have an app where users sign in with Okta and have no issues with being signed out of the app
