Hi all, has anyone actually tested their page load speed or Lighthouse scores before and after clicking the “Optimize App” button in their settings? Would really like to know how big the effect is, if any, given that it may risk breaking stuff.
Well, I tried it myself and got some unintuitive results.
Before:
After:
Looks like “Scripting” time was reduced significantly but the Lighthouse performance score actually went down (I tested multiple times). No, I did not confuse the Before and After. Bizarre and exactly what I’ve come to expect from Bubble.
I’ve seen differences in my performance metric from 1 minute to the next without making any changes. I’m not sure what the reason is, whether that is Bubble issue or just the way things are.
Interestingly it stayed consistent at around 70 after optimizing. Note that in the render speed the “Idle” can fluctuate arbitrarily, but the rendering speed consistently got faster post-optimization.
You can check the performance/network tabs and separate out the server-side requests from the actual rendering.
I would be interested in more people testing the rendering speed specifically. You can just revert to previous history after optimizing your app if you just want to do this for testing purposes.
